Don't know who that is, but happy to see you again. Your flames are always welcome. Just try to make them -- not stupid.

Noted.

Visited RoundSister in Colorado this week. She said she was going to sell our original Atari CX-2600 to a friend for $50.

She obviously noticed the look on her brother's face. It's still in the family.

Are you able to get that thing to show up on any TV that you have?

Haven't tried yet, LKJ. But our first 36" flat screen has all the old school inputs. Hoping for the best.

I came up with a good line, now we just need some context for it.

"This guy sure puts the 'douche' in fiduciary!"

Problem #1 -- missing AC adapter. There are dozens around the house, but need circa 1978 specs and correct sized plug

Problem #2 -- the "switchbox" between the console and VHF antenna input is shot -- frayed and disconnected wires, input destroyed, etc. Given the VHF impedance, it will need some very delicate soldering. Hopefully the "switchbox" won't be needed

Problem #3 -- have no idea if the console, controllers, or games even work after 40 years

It's going to be an interesting project.

Keep us posted. (Not sarcasm this time, I'm genuinely interested.)

I’m excited, wonder if there’s some type of adaptor online to connect old Atari game stations to modern TVs?

Yeah, if the unit itself proves to be functional then there has to be a solution out there.

This could be the start of some solid posting. I am hopeful.

1. Get an RF Demodulator to get from RF to Composite (though any old VCR will usually suffice)

2. Get a Retrotink 2x to get from composite to HDMI

Done. I had my Vader VCS composite modded so I can skip step 1 when I use it.

Yikes, $150 on Amazon. Actually not sure this would work for an Atari.

I had definitely assumed that Radio Shack went out of business years ago. Strangely, it does look like it still exists.

I'd have taken Blockbuster over Radio Shack in a last-longer.

Yeah I think Atari 2600 was pre RCA, it’s this old school RF connection. I remember the original NES had the RCA connection or an old school RF one to connect to my parents 1970s Zenith.

All great thinking, but can't even start without an AC adapter that works.

i did as well, and my initial google search was for 'RadioShack bankruptcy'.
apparently they are mostly e-commerce these days, serving up products for something called 'Hobby Town'.

Bend, OR is still the home of the last remaining Blockbuster outpost...that last longer bet is still in play.

Oh strange, I thought I read a story about an Alaskan Blockbuster having been the last one and it having closed.

It looks like I have two B&M Radio Shacks within 30 miles of me, and the map on their site indicates that they're still littered around the country, so I have to think that Blockbuster is drawing really slim on that bet.
