don't paint brick on the outside of your house.
brick is a great material because it's inherently low maintenance, painting brick defeats the purpose.
anything you paint will need to be painted again and again sometime in the future.
painting brick can also create a vapor impermeable surface that can inhibit the ability of your house to allow moisture to find its way to the outside.

Staining brick grey, if possible, would be my preference.

I wouldn't go with some faux covering (if I understand correctly). Blue goes well with all shades from white to dark grey.

I'm not sure what you mean my "faux". This is all individual, real stone. I'm assuming it's cut with a flat surface, to attach to a flat surface. It isn't some fake panels you just glue on.
