The company is cutting everything in half ......so many people gonna be out of work. I'm incredibly lucky to already have something lined up. They are being scumbags about it though. They didn't give the 60day notice per the WARN act, are officially calling everyone's separation "voluntary", and getting everyone to sign the agreements giving up their rights to suit and what not.
I called unemployment and asked them if it would be a problem if the company says my separation is voluntary despite having it clearly stated in the agreement that they are doing a reduction in forces and they said if the company tells them it was voluntary then I wouldn't eb eligible. I called the HR lady and she said my unemployment wouldn't be challenged at all, I asked her to send that to me in an email and she refused. Scum bags. Anyway, hopefully I get the job and won't even have to mess with it and get a 3 week paid vacation. As far as the supervisors, they are completely screwed. They have been here most of their lives, made the same amount of money I did and will never be able to find jobs in the area at that pay again. I hate how a few people making bad decisions can completely change the course of so many people's lives and families. I've heard before at this company that the exec team and plant manager get big bonuses when they cut labor as part of cost reduction inicitives......like once the old plant was given an incentive from the city to hire 5people so the plant manager hired 5 new people and fired 5 other employees to receive part of the incentive as a bonus. Greedy people just disrupting other people's lives and families so they can buy a new boat or take a vacation...makes me sick.
The old plant manager had a big list on his wall that he had marked through including , "boat", "new truck", "lake house"...... idiot
1. Reading 2 minutes of Wikipedia, there's almost no way the WARN Act applies to this sitaution. Over 50 people have to be laid off for it to take effect. You also need 100+ people working there for it to apply. I'm doubting at least one of these to be the case.
2. Of course you didn't run important papers such as severance agreements by a lawyer.
3. You literally have no idea how many people are being laid off. Seems weird you think everyone is being fired, but you already had numerous people ask where you went.
4. What you've heard them doing in the past is just you living your truth. While it might be true, you definitely want it to be true, and yet you have absolutely no idea.
