The post is not making a political point. I suppose I could have excluded the last half of David's post, but I just quoted it as is. I was simply x-posting a tremendous burn on Sklansky, who lots of people on 2+2 enjoy lol'ing at. It was a public service. Most other people saw that.

Also, I have almost never initiated actual political content in OOT, including today. I have, however, responded to it sometimes when it occurs, such as today. And not always; there are many times I have refrained from responding to actual political content made by Howard and others. Even in the Homeland instance, I simply replied to a consensus terrible poster who was making or implying false statements. I made a factual statement that is not particularly disputed or considered partisan.

That thread wouldn't even work in the politics forum because it would just become the "cool" place to post and then you get 20k posts from people in the politics forum in it and...

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to a "great posts from other places in 2+2 thread" but it would need to have incredibly low tolerance for derailments and posters from outside OOT should be considered to be on thin ice from the start.

I'll expect at the least a song request fulfilled!

You could just have a zero tolerance policy, as well as a minimum OOT posts lifetime or in the last year requirement.

If that still weren't enough, you could just disallow any posts from Politics. Even without that, such a thread is a great idea, since most people, including myself, don't read all the forums, but collectively, we could all enjoy great posts from across the entire site.
