Sorry to derail the code/mbabs convo but I just wanted to let people know we do have spam here, so if anyone was thinking about cancelling their travel plans to Oz due to this, they now no longer have to.

I'm more concerned about stuff like this tbh:

They have huge FLYING cockroaches. I worked in Perth and it is absolutely stunningly cool, except for flying cockroaches. All my colleagues laughed their butts off when I was shrieking trying to run away from one. If I would ever see such a spider..... -> no more lapka in Australia.

I'm down the coast atm but I will have to take a photo and post it when I get home of this huge spider who hangs out in our outside undercover area. Occasionally he pops inside but I usually just ignore him and he goes out again in a couple of days. Smaller spiders I just put paper out and scoop them up and deposit them out in the front yard. Spiders don't bother me, I know the really dangerous ones, most spiders are harmless enough and they do good things. I wish I felt the same way about snakes. My brother has a carpet snake living in his shed and while I know intellectually that's a good thing as they deal with vermin, it still makes me shudder even though they aren't harmful to me. It's ridiculous really.

Snakes are inherently creepy animals, and I see no problem with getting skeeved out by them.

Yea feel creeped out by the snake. If you can cohabitant without issue then the snake is just like any other creepy roommate who doesn’t actually do anything creepy, pays the rent on time and keeps things clean OOT Containment Thread for very bad posters

Snake is better roommate than TBabs for sure

Regular sized spiders okay whatever but F whatever those things in Aus are.

Flying cockroaches, regular cockroaches idgaf if you got roaches I’m out like Seacrest

I killed a spider for the first time in ages this year and felt bad, but here is a picture of her right outside my patio door.

If she wasn’t right at snoot level for my little dog and within reach of my 3y/o son, both curious and not scared enough, I’d have left her be. Still feel bad.

If you have kids/animals then poisonous spiders are obv kill on sight. Even tho I've killed a few and I assume others have as well, and I never hear about them killing anything.

Oh yeah I have killed poisonous ones in the past because of my dogs but tbh I have never heard of a dog dying from a spider bite, whereas snakes I have had dogs die when I was a kid from them and know several people who have lost dogs due to snakes. I did live in a rural area that had very large snake populations, particularly brown snakes. We weren't allowed to go outside without a dog with us (fox terriers) due to there being so many snakes about.

My cat caught a baby brown snake when I was living in Melbourne ffs lol. If you live in the city and have to contend with all the traffic, pollution and people, you really shouldn't have to worry about snakes as well.

BBQ lighter. It was quick.

I don’t think black widows kill people, or even have as nasty a bite as a brown recluse, but I read they do bite in self defense when disturbed and it is painful.

Buttermilk cake I think. The blueberry ones are even better.

Around here I think those would be described as sour cream donuts. And yes, blueberry ones are fantastic.

I'm a huge nature fan but when it comes to spiders and snakes kill them all and let Rexx sort them out.

Why are ya'll eating these inferior donuts when you could be having crullers frosted w/ chocolate ganache?

I don't mind cellar spiders, those thick spiders you can see from across the room however can gtfo.

Anything with >four legs that doesn't live in the sea can die.

We get these house centipedes which always startle the **** out of me when I see them, but they eat silverfish which I detest with the fury of a thousand suns, so I put the centipedes outside (where they probably get eaten by birds, but I gave them a chance).
