I think having all that free time wouldn't be great for your mental heath either. If you can find lots of ways to productively fill it then maybe it would be ok. Imo it seems pretty clear that mbabs looks down on people claiming welfare so I don't think it would be great for her sense of self worth.

Having too much free time is a good point and I might slip into a bad depression. I get a little down now on the weekends if I don't feel productive and lay around for two days.
I don't look down on people that use welfare if they legit need it. People who have not contributed to society for their entire lives and live off of welfare when they are able to just work min wage jobs and be able to survive are who I don't like. I just happened to grow up around people on welfare and that where completely able to work, but abused the system. There children(my age) are all now on welfare as well.
I have worked for many years, literally more than half my life so far, and paid in my fair share and have enough credits to qualify for the maximum $2758(I think) benefits, so I sorta feel like having a mental disorder and taking a few months to get a little more straightened out before working again is not a bad thing. And, the more I am able to work successfully in the future, the more I can contribute to social security and taxes and less on medical expenses.

I don't hate poor people lol. I was a very poor person up until a few years ago, but I supported myself while being poor.
You can choose to be poor, there is nothing wrong with being poor, but don't expect others to support you.
I dislike people who think welfare is this magical government pot of gold (I guess with Regan printing money it was). I don't like people trying to benefit off of others because they are lazy.
We should absolutely help disabled people, we should support families where jobs were lost until they can get on their feet, we should support people in bad circumstances.
