Anyone can choose a topic. I guarantee I will butcher it and take it on a bizarre tangent better than anyone.

and of course, ESAs!

My story?

Okay.

It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days sitting on the porch with my family singing and dancing down in Mississippi.

"Oh, lordy pick a bale of cotton"

"Oh, lordy pick a bale a day"

I have one but I'm not sure if you are the right man for the job. I certainly am not, but I want it to exist.

This is one of the goat threads in my limited experience:

Rumnchess's Guide to Live Poker

What I would like is a similar guide to posting on 2+2 complete with the kinds of posters you will interact with here.

golf can whip off 2,000 stream-of-consciousness words about nonsense like it's nothing, but ask him to post about something specific like chop just did and he maxes out at 40.

That is a goat thread.

I would probably be a better person to edit than create anything similar. I don't have the posting expertise or breadth of 2+2 topics by any stretch. I haven't checked out a poker related thread in ages.

Thanks for the share.

Now where is MLYLT. There is a challenge match afoot. A duel. And I am very close to shooting myself in the face. I need a target.

Here is a topic:

Bait cars.

Police go into lower-class areas, put a nice car there, unlocked, with the keys in the ignition.

https://youtu.be/3JffGF6yY9k

This seems like entrapment. Totally enticing people to commit an act they might not normally commit.

But in our tough in crime society and need for prisoners, we view it as solid police work.

Question: If you were walking by and saw a car running with no one in it, would you steal it? Let's say the car is worth multiples more than the one you currently own.

No, I wouldn’t steal it. And no, it isn’t entrapment.

I already knew your answers. I was asking golf, since it appears he thinks a person committing an opportunistic theft is not a criminal but rather a victim of circumstance.

Every criminal is a victim of circumstance.

If that boy would be the son of a rich lawyer, I doubt he would have taken the car.

This is creating crime and arrests that may not happen.

They conduct these “social experiments” in low-income neighborhoods.

The resources spent on setting this up, apprehension, and incarceration can be better deployed.

This has become “entertainment” where there are hundreds of videos.

This feels like entrapment.

So Bernie Madoff was a victim of circumstance?

Indeed. Circumstances create criminal behavior.

Why do you think there’s more crime in poor neighbourhoods? This isn’t a shocking concept.

Well, to be specific, I said golf thinks he's not a criminal but rather a victim of circumstance.

I didn't say it was a shocking concept, but it seems shocking that Madoff bilking billions from people was the result of some unfortunate circumstance he had no control over rather than just being a pos thief.

Ask the minority community if they think this is an entrapment. Of course. They don’t make or enforce the laws.

They are also catching idiot thieves. Car in the ignition and running? Please.

Madoff is a sociopath. He can’t help himself. He had no other choice.

I’d be just fine with police doing this in Beverly Hills as well.

Accepting your point as a premise, GM, does it really matter? Isn’t it blindingly obvious that’s wrong to get in the car and drive away? Should we not punish the guy that does?

I don't believe the car was running, but lol @ you calling it entrapment. You contend that he just couldn't resist a bargain. He certainly drove off like it wasn't his first rodeo.

If anything, it's entrapment against the officers.

Quote:
Footage shot for the TruTV program showed 28-year-old Keenan Alex come across a parked, shiny red Cadillac Escalade with the keys in the ignition and the engine running. After he gets inside and drives off, deputies pull him over and cuff him. In court, Det. Anthony Shapiro said under oath that he read Alex each of his Miranda rights from a card in his notebook before the suspect made incriminating statements, a transcript shows.

But unedited video for the program shows the detective never read the suspect his constitutional rights, including the right to remain silent and have an attorney present during questioning.

"You watch TV. You know your rights and all that?" Shapiro asked instead, according to the video reviewed by The Times.

After Shapiro's conduct was discovered, prosecutors dropped the case against Alex and sheriff's investigators launched a criminal perjury investigation of the detective, citing the conflict between his testimony and the video.

Combining law enforcement and reality TV has a long and sometimes controversial history, dating back to the long-running show "Cops." While such programs often record the questionable behavior of suspects, the "Bait Car" case shows the unblinking eye of the camera can also catch potential police wrongdoing.

Shapiro did not return messages for comment. His captain said the detective could not discuss the matter because it was the subject of an ongoing investigation. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said Shapiro has been relieved of duty with pay.

You go into a depressed community. Put a bunch of shiny new toys sprinkled around town. Have a tv production finance it for entertainment purposes.

Voila. Our prison population keeps increasing.
