One thing I have learned in the last few years is that money very rarely improves your happiness or well being. Often, it makes things more complicated. If you have enough money to survive and indulge in whatever hobbies you enjoy, there are hugely diminishing returns in anything extra you gain. So often I'll buy something expensive I think i wanted, and rarely/never use it.

There are indeed a lot of levels of 'poverty' and 'starvation'. I'll be almost a hobo from my mother's viewpoint when I move out, as her net worth will still be 3-10 times bigger, depending on how much she gives me, but I'm filthy rich from Middle Asian immigrants' viewpoint.

This logic is absurdly ******ed. I know what it is like on each end of the spectrum, so who other than me could accurately comment on the transition? There are diminishing returns for wealth gained and wealthy people are frequently miserable. This isnt that controversial of a point. You're making an argument just because it's me.

I'm considerably smarter than you are so i don't really understand what you expect to gain out of this other than troll me so i'm done discussing it with you.

Does money buy happiness? Of course not. But to suggest that there is no positive correlation between money and happiness is silly.

Considering that I'm socially inept, playing online is the lesser of the evils for the time being. It also allows me, instead of a biased boss, to decide when I'm qualified enough to move up - that's much faster vertical mobility than on the McDonalds ladder. Real jobs are underpaid in Russia. Any kind of online work pays more because it allows the Russian workforce to outsource itself to Western customers. I know that Westerners hate this fact - well, deal with it.

That's why spending on useless stuff is so harmful indeed - it leaves you without a safety net. You need to accumulate enough savings for a few months of unemployment that would allow you to uproot safely. GL with that!
