Re: Online dating thread

Anything you guys write in your profiles to call attention that you date outside your race? Does it not matter really, just message chicks and don't say anything about it? 80% of my dates from online have been black girls (I'm very white), just wondering.

I wouldn't mention it. Just message freely. Putting up some pics with a chick of a different race seems like a good idea though.

I don't have a problem with that, per se. I mean, you are or you aren't. Just as I wouldn't have a problem with white guys saying the same thing about black girls.

That said, OP is a pretty good-looking guy. I don't think he'd have a problem with a good percentage of white girls.

Re: Online dating thread

Usually you'll get a high enemy % if someone puts that they prefer to date within their own race on the question section, especially if you're outside their race. Even white girls that do that I usually avoid.

I guess I just don't see a racist behind every tree. If a black girl said, "not attracted to white guys", I would consider that a preference, not a racist remark.

Do you honestly not see how that's racist? "Yes, I like men, but not white men. That's just disgusting." It's 2012. Only people over 40 think that. And neo-nazis.

Hey guys look.

Someone is talking about racial preferences so candidly.

Clearly he's a racist and not just a human being with natural preferences.

*sigh*

I would "prefer" NOT to date a Christian. Is that bigotry towards religion, or a preference?

If you say it's bigotry, you're an idiot.

+1

We all know many people are attracted more to certain races. For example, I am more attracted to white girls rather than black chicks but I would snap bang Beyonce given the chance.

ETA: Roundguy mentioned OP being cute or something, if anything he has gay tendencies.

Logic and reason do seem to be taking a backseat to politically correct hysteria these days. Whatever. I know what I mean, and who I am. And I am old enough not to give a **** what other people think.

Re: Online dating thread

Story from college that shows that A) girls who date online can be hot and B) girls who date online are kinda crazy.

Party at my house junior year. Some really cute blonde girl is there, came with a friend of a friend. Eventually the cops show up and I walk outside the house to make sure everyone is sober driving because they'd get insta DUI'd. She comes out, we chat, I get her number but don't get her name.

Buddy of mine who used to do tons of online dating calls me the next day and tells me that girl I was talking to has a match.com profile(2003-2004ish). I check it out, it has her AIM name on it, so I IM her hoping to figure out wtf her name is for future reference. She tells me she bartends, I go hang out at the bar at her restaurant one night. We date for a little while after.

I basically begin to realize that this girl is insanely out of my league. I'm not an ugly guy, but every time this girls opens her mouth she just spews some totally badass detail about herself. Probably 5'6, 120. Huge fitness freak. Did competitive gymnastics as a kid, cheered in college at a D1 school for a year. She's pre-med, makes awesome grades. Loves sports, loves cars, and talks about sex basically non stop. I basically start trying to figure out what the **** is wrong with her and she starts dropping some minor bombs.

She's never had a boyfriend(she's 20), yet we've talked about sex fairly extensively. She has almost no female or male friends, and not just does she not have many friends, she seems to have LOTS of enemies. Her family situation is totally messed up. Doesn't speak to Mom or Dad, pays her way through medical school. She's insanely drama ridden(even more so than the average girl) and will literally call me 7-8 times a day with the most insignificant issues ever, then each time we talk when she's done with her issue she very quickly ends the call as if I'm keeping her from something important. She refuses to eat in front of any other people so we can never go out to eat or to a bar to hang out. She's always super depressed about not having a boyfriend or girl-friends to hang out with, yet never seems to be interested in hanging out. During the month we date she twice comes to hang out(totally excited) and then randomly gets WASTED and leaves without anyone knowing and drives like 30 minutes through major traffic to get home, both times ****ing up her car with minor damage.

I kind of start to shy away because I think I'm going into friend zone, and eventually she just drop dead stops calling me. I'm kind of sad because she was insanely hot and I was kind of going through a phase where I wasn't necessarily looking for something serious. I assumed I came on too strong because that's how I interpreted what was going on, and moved on.

I run into her a year or two later and we chat for a while as if nothing happened. She basically apologizes to me for disappearing and tells me that's just what she does. She meets guys, likes them, latches onto them, and then runs away as fast as she can. She's done it with every guy she's dated for 5 years and every girl-friend she's had since high school. She knows she does it, and just can't stop.

And yeah...she's a doctor now. I googled her name a while back and she had a few profiles on dating sites. So, there ya go. Go get her.

to have preferences is not racist, but your metaphor is silly

religion is something you choose to be a part of and certain things can be presumed of most people. the word in itself will evoke certain feelings in area of online dating. something about atheists being ok with sucking dick on sundays and christians being at church

race is something you're born into. it's out of your control and you can feel ****ty about it, but that's how it is. not quite racist not quite ideal (if you're not white)

It was an analogy, not a metaphor. Learn the difference.

If the person was saying that they don't like a certain race, that would be racist. But saying they're not attracted to people of a certain race, that's not racist. No everyone finds every skin color or hair color or eye color attractive, and that doesn't have to be because of prejudice that person has against people of that skin/hair/eye color.

I don't really think saying you aren't attracted to black dudes is anymore discriminatory than saying you aren't attracted to blonde dudes.

I realize this makes me sexist, but I'm only attracted to women.

I'm trying to be a better person and more accepting of everyone, but it's just so damn hard.

I readily admit my ageism. I just can't get it up for the 70 year olds nor the 7 year olds. Just not attractive to me no matter how open minded I try to be. Is there counseling?

Re: Online dating thread

I understand preferences but out an out saying you're not attracted to a race seems pretty strange to me. I have a tough time imagining a non-racist person having a preference against a race so strong that it would make sense to come out and say they aren't interested in such a large group of people.

Do you really think religion and race are even close to the same thing?

Look, I'm not going to derail the thread so this will be my last comment, but here's the point: the only reason you have a racial "preference" is because of racism in society. Our society has systematically discriminated against African-Americans for about 400 years and treated them as inherently inferior. That's why you have a "preference" for white women.

At the very least be big enough to admit that it is a prejudice of yours and don't pretend it's not.

The conversation was specifically about African-Americans. There's a bit of a history behind that. It's not the same as prefering blondes or something.
