Imo first date should always be something simple and cheap like coffee (I used to do drinks but coffee is so much cheaper and I really don't give a **** whether booze is involved or not.)
Okay so make short chit chat about the games this weekend and then ask her for her number?

Messaging chicks who say they are looking for friends or activity partners- worth it? The corollary: what about chicks whose profiles say they are seeing someone?

This is the approach I like the most. I'm fan of exclamation points; it makes you seem fun and exciting! (as long as you don't use them at the end of long sentences, because that's just weird) Dates aren't hard to get at all once you have her number. Just ask her if she wants to get coffee or ice cream one afternoon, or have something fun planned on the weekend. Make sure you specify what day when you ask.

I wouldn't bother with the girls that are seeing someone. If I was new in town or had recently gotten out of a relationship, I would put that I was only looking for friends/activity partners.

If you want to continue chatting, I'd pick a different topic from football since you already touched on that one. At most say something like "cool, i'm jealous of your season tix" or w/e and change gears to another topic.

Underrated pro tip: you're better off saying 1 sentence each about 20 different conversation topics than 4 sentences each about 5 different topics. Feels more spontaneous and you get to know the person better.

I'd suggest experimenting with asking for the # sooner vs later. I do it on the first message, but I also make it clear that I think that online chatting is lol so it feels natural. I don't know how important that detail is, I suppose it's not huge but ya never know.

afaict the girls in relationships are just there to attention whore it up so lol them. I wouldn't waste any time trying to think of a clever icebreaker for them.

Advice to all: Take out "Drinks Often" and change to "Socially". No girl who doe's drink often will see socially hold it against you, and there will definitely be girls who will hold that against you. Same go's for smoking/drugs etc.

wutang,

No girls are on online dating sites to find friends or activity partners. Only message people who are seeing someone if you are experienced w/ open relationships, polyamory, group sex, swinging, etc.

I think I remember a tv commercial for a site called cougar town or something like that. All the women in the commercial were 9+ and under 30. Had a really dumb jingle. Thought it was ridiculous.

Edit: cougarlife. Com

Optimal strategy:

Go through the quiver match thing and rate every girl a 4 or 5. She gets notified and will check your profile like 99%. If she messages you you're in, and then can decide if you're interested. You can do 25 in a few minutes, and then still take the time to send out messages to the ones that really catch your eye.

I don't even view the pictures or profiles, just hammer the 5 star button.

WVU,

I bet there are, but I think your better bet for that would be to just get on OKC/Match/POF/whatever's popular in your area/etc and just message older women who have much younger guys in their age range. They'll be excited to get a message from a decent looking younger dude like you, and old chicks who are into young guys are def super into banging.

You have to pay for all those sites right? Never done any online dating/hook up stuff before

WVU,

I have no idea about the cougar sites. OKC and POF are free. Match I believe you have to pay for. I suspect you'll have better chance finding random chicks that want to bang a much younger dude on free sites anyway.

CougarLife is a tarp, vast majority of women on there are spambots/fake, at least in Boston/NYC area. Not worth the price of admission. Go to upscale hotel bars if you want cougars

what are people's opinions on messaging girls that you once knew/are acquaintances with from HS or whatever?

WVU,

Very interested in hearing your results, but I'm very skeptical that any women you want will actually sign up to sites like that.

There are tons of hot 35+ women who are totally down to have fun and bang some cute young dudes, but very few of those are actually going to overtly advertise that fact. So I think you're much more likely to find them at regular dating sites, just w/ some subtle indicators in their profile like a wider age range than normal for someone their age.

tony,

My first reaction is you're way better off tracking them down and contacting them via Facebook, through friends, etc.

Is POF a good site? I've used almost exclusively OKC for a while, but I'm tired of it. Working more on my live game atm, but it's something I can do while pokering or whatever.

Online dating is kinda meh for me though. I'm 38 but everyone thinks I look 29/30, so online gives me away!
