One more ettiquetè question, do you guys just shake hands at the first date or peck one on the cheek ?

It's nice if they come from a culture where kissing is the standard greeting (did it recently with a Dutch girl, she was impressed I knew the "3 kiss" thing).
Recently I've gotten lucky that the first meeting has been such that there was no greeting necessary (without it being awkward) just by the way we first encountered each other.

Going on a second date in an hour. She's "picking me up" (we're walking to the restaurant for tapas and wine and my place is on the way). Not sure what the greeting will be tonight (we made out on the first date). I tend to go for the kiss on the cheek in such circumstances when we meet in public, maybe different at a doorway.

I think I've kissed every first date once on their right cheek when we met and all were fine, apart from the only North American, a Canadian girl who kinda extended her hand for a handshake but of course I ploughed straight in for a kiss and I ended up kind of awkwardly grabbing her arm and half missing her cheek with the kiss. Tried not to dwell on that lol.

Interesting that some of you kiss on the cheek when first meeting a date. I always do the hug.

Definitely not standard in the US, but completely standard in some other countries.

Had a dinner party last night and one of the girls there (a friend of a friend so just met her that night) went for a handshake to say goodbye but i was already en route to the hug so just kept going with it. Exact same thing happened with another guy saying goodbye to her, lol.

Even in Montreal the double kiss on the cheek is standard, so the handshake/hug/kiss dilemma is strictly a US thing. In the US I'd just go with a hug unless she already had her hand extended for a handshake.

Sandra: lol. Is pooping when you get nervous a thing for you?

D10: I think dating is an inherently tiring process, and when it's online it involves a lot of people that you simply won't click with in person. That's gonna be exhausting for anyone who doesn't absolutely love dating. Prob also good for people who just really enjoy banging lots of ransoms.

Flop: please tell us about yourself. Where are you located? Age/height/attractiveness/etc? Would you be wiling to share your profile with us - sounds like the updated version is very good.

Tyler: call the maid and make up some excuse why she can't come clean your house (old housecleaner came back to town, who knows) and that you're sorry about that and would like to make it up to her by taking her out for a drink.

yeah, it's not uncommon though? It's a natural bodily reaction to fear apparently. In England we say 'I shat myself' when referring to being scared, do you not say that in the US?

Would be interested in seeing Flopthenuts' profile too as those results are almost unheard of in online dating and I seriously cannot work out how it's possible, even if he is very attractive indeed.

Sandra,

Yes, that's a saying here too, but nobody really actually ****s themselves when they get a little nervous.

Yes they do (some people), it's where the phrase comes from and it's a known medical thing. Adrenaline and other stuff speeds up the digestive system, obv I don't mean you just crap your pants uncontrollably.

Lol sorry for the ridiculous derail but had to put this right yo

Sandra,

Yes, they do. Like on the battlefield when getting barraged by enemy fire from all sides. Or when being tortured by a serial killer or something. I just meant it's not a normal thing in any way at all for people to get a little nervous at stuff like a date or job interview and have to run to the bathroom constantly to ****. ABSOLUTELY NOT NORMAL IN ANY WAY AT ALL. OK, back to boob groping talk.

Wasn't constant, it happened twice. I exaggerated.

Naw, the kisses on the cheek is a French/Quebec thing. It is definitely not the same in the rest of Canada from my experience.

Lately I've just been going with the hug, but I've had a few hand shakes and it is really ***** weird to me.

As an aside the only girl I was denied a second date with not only gave me a hand shake when meeting, but also when saying goodbye lol

Sandra did you post the pic of the poo girl?

Keep in mind that it's better for the girl to pee in the bed than for her to poo in the bed.

Btw, when I get nervous my stomach gets upset and I sometimes have to poo too. It is normal.

Got a date tonight with a [hopefully] cute blonde. She seems fun enough at least.

Had this message exchange with a solid 8 though... She mentions in her pf how she is a professional karaoke dancer.

Me: What the hell is a karaoke dancer? Does that mean they put up a music video (I'm thinking "All the Single Ladies") and you try to copy the dance moves? Sounds intense.

Her: I guess it means I can't sing

Not much else in her profile to go off of but she's hot so I figured I'd give her another shot to not be a wet blanket. Thinking "What else can't you do?". This is the kind of response that annoys the hell out of me though, because wtf does that mean. She obv is a red dot so not responding a lot, so it must mean she has some kind of baseline attraction to the way I look to even bother responding. Even a "haha" at the end of her message would have been a little playful. Damn hot chicks and their entitlement, haha.

If I bother to respond at all, I basically pretend that interaction didn't happen. Find some other opener/question based upon her profile/pics/whatever. That line didn't go anywhere, so go with something else.
