I'm so tired of all the wrong guys contacting me. I just got a message from a 24 yr old "any chance you're into younger guys?" LOL I'm in my 40s..... what do YOU think?? My profile says I'm not just looking for someone for sex, so what exactly am I supposed to do with a 24 yr old???

In the last week I've had messages from men as young as this 24 yr old and as old as 67 - but it seems like all the guys around my own age are either scary/ugly looking, douches, married (it's unbelievable how many married men contact me), or have no personality.

Jenn - thanks, I've tried that approach & haven't been successful, most of the men don't respond & it gets too discouraging. It really amazes me how hard it is sometimes.

Also what sites are you trying? I think okc is generally gonna have a younger audience, match a little older, and then the religious sites (jdate, Christian mingle, I think I saw one for atheists too) are older than that.

I'm in the midwest. I've been on POF, OKC, Match, eharmony.... I've basically wasted my money on the pay sites - a 39 yr old guy on match was practically begging me to go out with him a week ago, he's the only one who might actually be real that I heard from there. On eharmony 2 guys sent me icebreaker questions & when I answered them, nothing more. The wide range of ages used to be mainly on POF until they locked it down, now it's happening on OKC.

There are tons of guys my age on the free sites, but the ones who contact me are pretty low quality. I'm really not asking for a lot, my standards are actually fairly low but there are a few things I just won't bend on.

^ this. Yowsa, do not be discouraged. Men after 31 are less popular on okc as mentioned above, AND if they are not active users, do not get down by lack of response. It is everyone's problem

Another thing to look out for are profiles that say "available" instead of single. That usually means married but looking. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid.

Yep, I've had plenty of "available" married guys contacting me, well aware of that one... but thanks.

I haven't kept track of messages vs responses but I'd guess it's been about 1/20 who respond. But I really don't want to be the initiator, I'm kinda old fashioned that way...

I'm 49 (I know everyone says this, but people both younger than me & around my own age tell me they think I look a lot younger than I am) - and I'm interested in roughly 5 years older or younger than me, but it really depends on the man.

LOL yes some do but some hide it at first. Some have "married" in their profile, some use "available", and some say single, but after a little bit of conversation it comes out sometimes if they're not. Oh and there are a few "separated" who contact me too but I tell them the same thing, I'm not interested in anyone who's not actually single.

We're back at the house. I suggested going to the club and she agreed but was not dressed appropriately. Went home to change.

Anyway, I put my arm around her on the ride home and response was good. I'm going to make a move now. This is her during our round of drinks:
