Indeed, that's what I'll do in the future. Training for pro baseball, and in my free time I play poker for fun and some extra cash. If they ask for details about the baseball, I have ways around that.

any time they ask you a seemingly casual question such as "what are you doing tonight?" or "how was your day" then that is always a test that has an exact right answer that you have to get right.

Bob Costas just apologized for making a comment regarding gun control in a 90 second segment after the KC Chiefs murder-suicide. He went on to explain he usually follows a rule where he doesn't talk about controversial subjects unless he has the time to fully explain his position. You should use the same rule for talking about poker. Mentioning that you like to play occasionally for fun is fine, but don't say anything that implies you take it seriously or that you play a lot unless you're on a date and you have time to convince her that you're not a degenerate loser.

Careful about lying to women. This is a cardinal sin to all women and they are masters at detecting it. Unfortunately most guys can't finish a sentence without telling a lie and most of us suck at remembering them. Its even worse with online dating because women will be keeping a log of everything you tell them and when they catch you in a lie its game over (unless you are an 8 and they are a 4)

Of course if you're still living with your ex g/f or in your parents basement then lying is +ev

Well, not an exact right answer, but if you say something like "Oh, I'm just going to stay at home and read a book" or "My day was good", then you have totally failed. You should rehearse some canned answers, such as "Tonight I'm going out to this new place [name of trendy bar] with my friends, then I'll be meeting up with [notable person] to talk about business opportunities", or "Oh, my day wasn't too special, not much happened except my skydiving instructor complimented me on my rapid improvement for HALO jumps". You get the picture.

This is pretty dumb and obviously incorrect.

Or you guys know some REALLY different girls than any of the ones I have ever associated with.

It's not hard to just roll with, "Be somewhat cool...and try not to suck." Seriously, just doing that will do just fine for most people.

But amazin couldn't even figure out that his potential lady-friend obviously isn't going to give a crap about his poker and others of you are all, "everything a girl does is a test. Don't screw it up or else you're done!"

Ummmm, what?

Agree 100%. Message ---> text ---> meet is the best approach.

YES

I only skimmed that exchange but that's the most important takeaway. Try to not talk more or message longer than the woman. It can come off as trying too hard and is a one way ticket to the friend zone. Ask questions to control the conversation and let them do the talking. Not only will they be happy to blather on about themselves as nauseum but they will curious about knowing you better since you didn't vomit text or words all over them.

Also, the advice about changes to your profile was excellent.

i believe your sarcasm detector is broken. obviously op is overly worried about getting the right answer to everything he should do, hence why he made this thread and feels he has to lie about himself and his intentions. he is also listening to advice from toolbags telling him not to answer the phone on the weekend because that's not what super awesome people do and girls won't think you're super awesome if you do.

Alligator, if that's the case then I believe your ability to use sarcasm is broken. What you say is actually not far removed from how others really think. I'm glad your post was intended to be ridiculous though. Reasonable chance our pal Seymour didn't get that though...just like me and some others itt.

I moved here to pursue my dream of playing professional baseball. I'm passionate about baseball because I think baseball exemplifies the timeless freedom I've sought throughout my life. I've always been a person who was into taking the road less traveled, than settling for a 9 to 5.

Traveling is my favorite past time. I most recently visited the Finger Lakes in upstate New York. Swimming in the Finger Lakes is an experience I'll never forgot! I love trying new and exotic foods. I also love risk takers, so let's go out and have some Fugu together!

The bane of my existence is the New York Mets. I often feel like I'm Charlie Brown and the Mets are Lucy holding the football. I'll say this though, Mets fans have waaaaay more character than Yankees fans

My favorite stress relievers are going for a bike ride along Lettuce Lake Park then hitting the weight room after.

My favorite TV show is Boardwalk Empire, been following it since it first aired. For humor, I'm a fan of the Office. My favorite books are the Harry Potter series. Yea, I read children's books ;-)

Fun facts about me:
1) Pets and Kids universally love me.
2) I believe that running is the worst thing in the history of mankind, and is tantamount to Chinese water torture. Not that I've experience the latter!
3) I can whip you in a game of poker any day of the week!
4) (A playful example of something your not good at) e.g. You probably have better handwriting than me or I'm incapable of pronouncing the names of IKEA furniture.

I'm attracted to a girl who:
1) Can make me laugh.
2) Likes to explore and take day trips.
3) Has a quality taste in movies

Savant, what do you think?
I think this profile is trying way too hard.

It just seems really BS and fake.

Aren't you guys worried about STD's?

Seems like online dating would be a great way to catch one...

Granted, I might be biased because I know OP pretty well, but that profile just seems really artificial.
