How does this look? Seems a bit bland to me.

Headline is "Have a good time... all the time". This Is Spinal Tap FTW.

Like everyone else on here I love traveling. I took a year out recently to visit Africa, South America, New Zealand and SE Asia. I've got some great memories from the trip that I would like to add to at some point... Going back to Africa and visiting Borneo and India are on my to do list.

Now that I'm back home I'd like to meet some new people, that's why I'm on here

I've just started a new job in an office doing general admin work. I'm part way through an Open Uni biology degree as I would like to get out of office work and do something that doesn't involve sitting in an office staring at a computer screen all day. Heading off to Africa and studying the wildlife there is the pipe dream...

Music wise I like classic rock like Guns N Roses and AC/DC as well as some mellower stuff like SRV and Clapton. Dance music (Prodigy and Pendulum) is OK in small doses. I play guitar. Badly.

I used to do a lot of judo and football. Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near as active as I used to be.

I'm not much of a TV person but Sheldon Cooper can always make me laugh (you don't scew the room mate agreement, the room mate agreement screws you!) and I own every David Attenborough documentary under the sun.

Obviously I wasn't being completely serious.

The standard advice I've seen posted elsewhere is to avoid them for you main pic. I think it's OK having a few as long as you make sure you have some pics where you aren't wearing them. I found it quite hard to find some without sunglasses as all of my recent pics are from when I was backpacking.

That writeup seems fine to me. If I had to nitpick one thing, I'd say to make an effort to frame your life with a more positive spin.

i.e. instead of "general admin work" you could say "analytical duties" or w/e makes it sound like you are filling a more skillful role

instead of "Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near as active as I used to be," I'd say "and these days I try to remain active whenever I can."

Signed up for OkCupid with the WOAT profile. I answered every question with sarcasm, but it doesn't seem that one girl has caught on. Anyway it doesn't matter what you put in your profile I don't think. Just have a few funny things and a few movies or artists that girls seem to like. Maybe my opener is real lame (I find you cute and interesting. I hope you aren't disgusted by me and write me back. *fingers crossed*), but I've gotten around 40-50% response back and a few girls want to go out or bone.

excerpt from advice on trying too hard...

Too sarcastic. Please listen when I say this: There is a major difference between funny and sarcastic. Funny is good but sarcastic puts people off. In fact, men and women usually use sarcasm in their profile and in dating as a defense mechanism. Because they feel anxious, nervous, or afraid of rejection, they try to appear strong, bold, and sarcastic, believing that they will look more confident as a result. Watch your distorted thinking when it comes to sarcasm, because too much too soon will push a normal person away.

Pro tip: Beer sampling dates with the shy, bud light drinking girls... not the best idea.

OK, I took some new photos of myself, since I really think I should have a recent pic. I think this is the best:

I know it's still a self-shot at my computer, but I don't think it looks creepy like the last one.

You're wearing a blazer alone in your room, of course that looks ****ing creepy.

The backlight adds to the creepiness. Try putting a lamp in the foreground.

FWIW, there's no backlighting or lamp on; the only light is overhead.
How can it be creepy to just wear what I normally do during the day?

But I usually wear a collared shirt and a blazer when I go to a bar or restaurant, etc. I am a professional in my 30's....I'm almost never walking around in a t-shirt and baseball cap (I do wear dark jeans most of time though, including to work).

you look fine but the picture is terrible. Have it so the camera is looking up at you at an angle. Dont place yourself right in the centre and try to look off to the side more. Avoid having any of those horribly coloured bare walls in shot. It looks like the room is unfurnished and you have nothing on the shelves behind you. No girl is wanting to visit that room.

Anyone do the My Best Face report on OKC? Results? The picture I had with Anthony Jeselnik scored way higher than any of my others, maybe because it wasn't in a creepy cam shot, maybe because girls are stupid and mistook me for him

I've done this, and the results are ridiculously inconsistent. The sample size just isn't big enough. What scores well is much more a function of what each photo happens to get matched up against than differences between the photos.

Yeah unfortunately some of the matchups I "won" that it showed were against 80-year-old men and transexuals

I thought looking off to the side was what everyone said made the earlier photo creepy! I agree the color of the walls is ugly, especially in that particular light (The shelves are actually filled with books, but the shelves are too deep to show them). I think maybe it looks better in B&W:

Nick,

That's better than your initial second pic, but your first pic is still way better. GET A PIC OUTSIDE IN NATURAL LIGHT! But for this pic, B&W def better than color, you are right about that.

Is that what you usually wear when relaxing at home though? It comes across either as stuffy or not genuine depending on the answer. That would be a good picture in a different setting, but not there.
