We talked about this a few days ago, the whole texting thing. From my experience, if you can get into a long texting back and forth, before the first date even occurs, the familiarity will help the date go smoother and escalation will typically happen on that first date faster. In my experience the "why are you single?" comes up before meeting in person way more often than after and is usually because she suspects you're not the person pictured and/or not actually single. In the world of online dating if it looks too good to be true it really usually is.

If you get asked that after a couple dates it means she likes you but is still cautious and assuming there's something horribly wrong with you that she hasn't discovered yet, because that's what her experience in online dating has taught her to expect
