BL, when you post pua-talk you come across like a sleezy, creepy db, but when you bother to explain things in human terms it makes a lot of sense.

Nick: reiterating what I said in my earlier post, I think you're pretty much fine and just need to be a little more fun/flirty.

BL: I think you are about 90% decent advice and 10% full ******.

Amazin: still rooting for you big time, I'm a fan!

Re nick - I think educated/successful people, especially women, like finding someone who can take their minds off of work, school, and other stressful activities or issues.

There are so many full blown idiots out there that it should take very little for someone like you to demonstrate that you can more than keep up intellectually, so you should focus more on storytelling (nights out, random good times with friends), jokes, observations, questions to her not related to work/school, etc. I am 82% sure your lack of success has something to do with this.

P.S. Are you very good looking and/or openly display a high income on the sites? Seems like a lot of 7+ messaging you first.

P.P.S. Do not debate US health care on a first date lol

I actually sort of lie about my income on OKC. Nothing outrageous, but I am very financially comfortable, generous on dates, and have income for several inconsistent sources. But professors make a lot less money than many people assume, and what I list is consistent with these assumptions. I am truthful about my job & education (and everything else AFAIK).

I don't get a lot of messages from 7+...maybe one every 10 days? Plus some winks, plus some messages from 6's that still seem worth going out with, plus a whole lot of unattractive people that I ignore.

To clarify, I wasn't debating health care. I was just getting her perspective as a young doctor, and we were pretty much agreeing on everything. But I think you are probably right, and that moving conversations in a more flirty direction would help.

NYC has an excellent ratio of females to males, and probably a lot less racist.

Yes, from everything I've heard, NYC is the one city where men essentially have their pick of women in online dating, as opposed to the other way around everywhere else.

Haven't you read this thread? Racism plays no role in dating.

Spoiler:
If you're white.

Why do you continue to suck? When everyone tells you you're an idiot, maybe you should consider that -- hey, maybe I'm an idiot.

I think you agreed with 99% of us that wanting black vs. white, or white vs. black is a "preference", and has nothing to do with being racist.

*Edit* - Why did dale bring this up again? I thought this was done.

What I didn't say was that racism plays NO role. At least once I specifically mentioned that some people actually are just racist.

Is racial preference as far as being attracted to people racism? Honest question here. I'm white, but married to an asian woman. I wasn't looking for it, but I do find asian women attractive. Racist ban?

And also, there are people who have racist family members that may deter them from dating outside of their race. Is it racist if you don't date a black guy because your dad will disown you? Maybe a little. Also, people's preferences are a lot of times determined by norms, and if it's normal to date black guys, you probably would be more likely to do so yourself. It's the same effect that fat chicks hanging out with each other tend to make each other get really fat.

Oh please stop tarding up an otherwise excellent thread with your race debate. Go open a thread somewhere if you really feel like discussing this.

I messaged a girl from Austin that showed up in my POF local user section. I didn't know she was from out of town at the time, so I won't be able to meet up for a few weeks at least.

I feel like I played it pretty bad, and just kind of left the ball in her court to get in touch with me when she moves here. I didn't try to get her number, was this a big mistake?

What is the appeal for so many people of POF over OKCupid? That site seem complete useless to me.

How many messages does an 7-8, 28 year-old female that lives in a big city get average per day?
