The above post is of course the polite approach.

No way this is close, even for a casual fan. There are plenty of fish in the sea. It’s October. It’s Sox/Yankees. Go to the game imo.

Plus you're only in town a few weeks, so no long term potential. I'd go to the game for sure.

I have a bumble date set up for tomorrow night in NYC (side note-- bumble scene here is about 5x better than the Bay Area). Of note, I've been very upfront with her that I'm only in town for a few weeks. So I feel like this has a different dynamic than your usual first date; I think it's quite likely this girl wants to meet up, have a few drinks, then go have sex if things go smoothly. And your boy hasn't been laid since June so this would be cool.

On the other hand, my buddies want to go to Yankees/Red Sox tomorrow night and I think this would be incredibly fun. I love baseball, and it's not every day I get to go to any playoff game, let alone a Yankees/Red Sox one.

What do we think? Should I cancel/reschedule on this girl?
If you love baseball go to the game. It's not even close.

If it was just a thing to do then it's different.

I blew off some girl just to WATCH game 5 of an lds series Halladay vs Carpenter. 1-0 game. Awesome game, was definitely the right move.

Ask MLB kindly to reschedule the game.

Yup. This is where my heart was and it looks like the feedback is pretty unanimous.

Like Eeyore said, it isn't polite to cancel and I do feel like kind of a dick, but it's just a first date and I'm sure girls have cancelled on me for way worse reasons than this one. I'll ask her if she wants to meet up on Tuesday instead, but totally understand if shes pissed about this and I don't get to meet her.

Amen. Are you a Phillies or a Cardinals fan?

I'm a Pittsburgh sports fan and there's zero chance I'd choose a date over a Pirates/Penguins/Steelers playoff game. I probably wouldn't even go on a date that conflicted with a regular season Steelers game.

Man I remember I watched this game by myself at Cav's Rittenhouse (Philly). Was a super depressing environment; even during the game, no one was feeling it.

Or you could have ****ed her brains out, watched the game on a few hour delay while cuddling together in bet, then repeated the first step. Sounds much better to me.

Go to the game. That's a lifetime memory.

MLY, Bad pic for LinkedIn.

Obviously, you should dress professionally, not like Marilyn Monroe.

Also, gtfo w I need to look attractive for older men on Linked In. Yuck

How about focusing on your work history and looking professional? If you are attractive, you’ll appear attractive regardless.

The girl I was dating for the last year, our first real date was to watch game 7 of the world series and the dodgers lost. I cried.

Still ended up getting together lol

LinkedIn is about business professionals.

Your attire should be the attire you would wear when you have your work photo ID picture taken. How you'd dress for your interview, if not a tad down from that (often times you dress up from your daily attire at the job)

I didn't think twice about any underlying coy narcissistic attention seeking behavior she is known for.

I answered the question.

Agreed. I would text her once or twice during the game and once afterwards and if she seems to be responding she might be down for impromptu meetup. But I wouldn't ask before getting some kind of response to these probing texts.

Thanks for all the advice, we actually averted this crisis, after some long discussion the group decided we'd rather go to game 4 tomorrow (and I'm really not in the mood to shell out the cash to go to both). Now you guys get to LOL at me when the Yankees win on a Judge walkoff tonight and lose 11-2 tomorrow.

I hope so . I ended up getting really cheap standing room tickets tonight.

Well I don’t hope for the second part . I’ll take an 11-2 win tomorrow

Next time you’re at the zoo please think two or three times before feeding untamed wild animals their favorite snack (attention)

For the sake of the rest of the visitors of the zoo

I'm pretty darn certain my attention was precisely what she didn't want (ie ignoring commentary on picture and sexual commentary), short of being ignored. Others fed her waaaaay more than I did to precisely what she wanted.

So sure, call me out.

:eyeroll:
