NOTE: I will not be posting pictures/links to the profile I am talking to. I know that 2p2 just loves to trainwreck people. However, I am willing to send the links to trusted members so they can give better advice.

I have both a Match and POF account, but because my Match account has not recently been used it never gets views or messages (F there alogorithm!). Match does have better looking women on it though, so maybe I will start messaging girls on there again. I mainly use POF right now.

First, lets get some profile input. Here is my profile:
http://www.pof.com/viewprofile.aspx?profile_id=10852744

A few things.
1)All pictures are pretty current.
2)The shirtless pic was not my idea. My good friend (girl in Chaco Taco pic) convinced me to make the online profiles and also convinced me the shirtless pic should be up. I thought it was douchy but it seems to get attention.
3)I will admit that my 'date idea' is one of those super cheesy PUA things. I originally made a POF account like 5 years ago and then deactivated it. I was too lazy to change that section, nor did I really care to. I am not into the PUA bull****.

There you have it. RIP ME A NEW ONE!
If you are going to have a shirtless pic, make sure it is naturally done, say at the beach. Not in front of a mirror!

If my abs looked like that, I would never even wear a shirt.

I brought up all those reason why I shouldnt have it also, but the friend insisted that it wouldnt be a bad thing. She was a college cheer leader and friends with a lot of the Blazer dancers so obv I am taking her advice. It seems forced to me also but so far I have gotten a pretty good selection of women messaging me. I am not going to be "that guy" who gets advice and doesnt take it, so its on the chopping block, and I will get some more advice.

How do you guys think I could make the profile more fun? I tried to make it a little longer then most because 1)Everyone has a few simple paragraphs and your profile looks like everyone elses, and 2)I wanted people to get a better feel for me.
My time is limited because of work/training so I want to only go on dates that I feel connected to or think I have a good chance to bang.

I live in Portland. Does anyone have any great ideas for quick dates; moreso for during the day? My go-to night date is getting greyhounds at Jakes (fresh queezed and I have never met a women who didnt love them) and then moving to another close location depending how I am feeling the person.

Also,
On POF do any of you guys do the 'sign in' trick? Every time you log out and sign back in your profile gets moved to the top of the que. It gets you more noticed. Just figured I would throw that out there in case someone didnt know about it.

Pete,

You are in that tiny percentage of guys where the shirtless pic rules don't apply and you should definitely keep that pic. At some point if you can replace it with a shot playing volleyball on the beach or hanging out holding a surfboard, even better.

Pete,

I assume we're talking first dates here rather than longer activity-filled day stuff with someone you've been seeing.

Daytime first/second dates for me tend to involve drinks on a patio and potentially some food. Getting ice cream and strolling around is also good. SF has a lot of random places to explore. Coffee is a standby but I don't love that for a first date.

For dates in general, Portland has a great cocktail scene and lounge type places that I think are perfect date places. A couple that I've enjoyed and a couple recs from a friend there: Teardrop Lounge, Rum Club, Pope House Bourbon Lounge, and Hale Pele Tiki Bar.

Departure is one of my go-to places during the summer when they have the balconies open. Its easily one of the best date places during the summer.

Also, I was more looking for ideas that are different then drinking/happy hour. I know the good lounges/happyhour places in Portland pretty well. I live downtown (ish) so all of these places are in my back yard. Taking a girl to 'Salt n Straw' would prob be a very good idea. I just hate hate hate coffee first dates, just boring on so many levels. It would be nice to know some simple activity dates....but then again, if I am not trying to get her loosened up and ready to make bad decision, then wtf am I doing?? AMIRIGHT?!

I will look into some of those things. My main problem is I am currently lacking good ideas for quick first dates. I have the 2nd date in the bag with my Blazer season tickets. They never fail.

ElD: Do you still do Bay-to-Breakers? I have a lot of friends that moved down to San Fran for start up jobs so I am finally going to go down for it. Mario Kart theme. I have seen pictures/videos but I am not sure what to expect yet.

Totally off-topic, but how much does it pain you that you could have had Kevin Durant?

Anyway, you shouldn't have any problems on Match, you just have to make the effort, I guess. Message like 10 chicks a day and you'll get responses.

Eh every team in the nba would have done the same, results oriented, but still sucks

You're definitely supposed to post the shirtless pics if you have the body for it. It obviously seems tacky and many women say in their profiles that it's a turn-off, but there's strong evidence that it's extremely helpful. OKCupid has a series of articles using their vast amount of data to draw conclusions on this kind of thing.

There's even a post about what type of camera to use and how to angle pictures etc.

Anyone have problems with online dating becoming compulsive? I'm in grad school now and studying for the CPA exam..just got an A on my first section and relapsed into this thing where I constantly go on OkCupid, iPhone apps, etc. I opened and then re-closed my OkCupid account in the past week but only lasted a day until I set up an account on DateHookup last night .

Last semester I'd pull all nighters and hardly get any work done regardless (I assume) because I'd constantly be doing that. I don't have time for or really want a serious relationship now, so it's basically like spending 40 hours or so a week (wild guess) to hook up with a random girl a month or something. Then it doesn't even turn into a FWB thing because I never have interest in any of the girls that are into me.

Basically want to quit, need to, but am compulsive/stupid and can't for some reason. I'm pretty sure it has to do with a psychological need to prove I can get girls or something

It's sort of addicting because you're getting nearly instantaneous feedback on yourself, or your online persona at the very least.

I think I'm going to put up a shirtless pic. If you've got it, flaunt it.

You may get more responses with a shirtless pic, but they may be from a less desirable crowd depending on what you are looking for.

+1

But in a candid fashion, or with a group on some vacation

Pete,

I''ve done Bay to Breakers a few times. Just depends on which groups of friends are doing something for it. It's a great time, basically a giant drunken costume party masquerading as a race. With some naked people.

Random message today from a girl from Colorado: "Hey there - I'm visiting Albany for work this weekend and I want to venture the town! You down?"

My play?

(FWIW I'm at grad school about 15 mins away from the city and don't know the city too well, just in case any of this affects your response)
