Is anyone around here old enough to remember the dark ages of online dating (early 1990s) when there were no websites and all we had was alt.personals (a newsgroup)?
No pics obviously.

Amazingly enough, some of the women I met didn't look terrible. But obviously a real gamble.

it depends on age/social group you are trying to get. For me works good anything that shows that guy did read my profile. Anything generic like "WOW nice curves", doesn't. When I was 20 sth, positive references to the looks would do the job. And you can really do better than the "Wow good curves (Tits)". (I am female and that are things that would work with me). One guy (pre-tinder times, but online dating) started with pics with cute cats, another with pics of his dick, - guess who got a date.

Speaking of entertainment, if you're ever bored you can create an email account on yahoo and then post a personal ad on Craigslist pretending to be a single white female under 150 pounds.

I did that once and got over 100 responses in a week. Three were from people I knew. Of those three, one was married.
