My recipe for success on first meetings...

Dress neatly and comfortably but always make sure not to outdo the woman. I believe it is appreciated to casually drop a hint as to what you will wear. I do this also for second and third dates.

You should dress for a date how you normally dress. If a girl is interested in you she won't care, and you'll just end up with a closet of clothes you'll never wear. And even if it works the lie will eventually come out since eventually you will give up and wear your real clothes or paths between friends and the girl will cross and it will be obvious you are a fake.

Just wear what you wear and if you get rejected, realize it was never going to work and ****ing deal with it.

I'm totally grunching this thread so sorry if this is old advice.

Or you could just upgrade your entire wardrobe, and dress better all the time

Re: North Face - I think it's more that NYC is just a different beast than pretty much everywhere else in the US in terms of fashion.

Dean, are you from the NYC, NJ area?

If you are, do you remember how popular Northface was with black NYers from the mid 90s to the early 2000s?

Yeah, but nobody wears THOSE Northfaces anymore. I miss being young where you're fashionable as long as your Timbs weren't scuffed and your Northface wasn't a knockoff.

I think Northface is fine even in NY as long as it's a thinner/more fitted one and the rest of you is put together. It says more that you're an outdoorsy person though, so if you're not then should probably choose another brand.

Might have to give this online dating thing, though at 5'9 I need to say I'm a tad under 6 feet or something like that?

Haha yea they were huge.

North is fine as long at it's fitted and weather appropriate. However, if you show up to the date wearing one because it's cold out. When you take it off, have a nice collared shirt underneath.

Have just stopped replying to girls who cant even compose one non-boring message no matter what they look like, if you cant come up with something better than "how are you?" then i know the date is gonna be terrible.

Had an amazing message from a girl the other day basically making 2 jokes about my profile then saying 'you wanna get a drink sometime?'. Took two messages to arrange a time and place, and just makes the whole thing seem more fun.

Bah, you people lying about your height is making it tough for me. I'm 6'3 and put 6'2. Every girl probably thinks I'm 5'11 from my profile now.

I'm 5'7" and put 5'7". Suboptimal? Maybe. The right thing to do, yup.

It matters because it helps get you through search filters.

I'm pretty comfortable with my height. I just read somewhere (was it this thread?) that people embellish their heights on these sites, so the smart thing to do is do what everyone else is doing because people think you're doing it anyway.

i just put on my profile that i am actually the height i say i am and will not turn up as a midget when we meet in person.

Not gonna argue, but that seems to make you look a bit insecure about your height whether you actually are or not.

I think I'm gonna add an inch though .

At 5'9", it's not a huge deal, that's average height for men in the US. However for any woman that does a search for men "5'10" - 6'3" or whatever are not going to see your profile, when, otherwise you could be a great match for that girl, so it makes sense to add the inch, imo. The shorter someone is, the more it matters, obv.

If you are 5'9" barefoot and 5'10" with shoes on. Saying you are 5'10" isn't really a lie.
Or should you just round that **** up to 6 feet since everybody else is lying about their height too?

I don't think girls are searching for guys as often as yall seem to think. Maybe, but I doubt it.

If they are, the only filters they're using is income, or some weird band they love. Just my opinion.

Soooo many midget girls on these sites that are looking for 5'9" +. Pretty stupid. You're 5'2", deal with it.

let's just take it one step further and say caring whether or not a guy is taller than you is really stupid. I asked a girl about this she's like "It's because of spooning, the guy's on the back, he should be bigger."

Obv this is some genetic protection thing, but it's dumb, and it's dumb to care about. I'm 5' 10.5" so this isn't me being jealous or whatever. I would date a girl who's 6' no problem.

I mean height and proportion have a lot to do with attractiveness, so unless you think attractiveness is stupid you can't really blame someone for preferring a taller guy.

I'm 5' 4.5'' and I almost feel guilty putting 5'5''.
