Visitation

I just wanted to add my heartfelt condolences to Mark's friends and family. Like others, I didn't know Mark in real life, but we did converse on the forum. He struck me as a fine young man, who was taking those, sometimes difficult, steps to move forward in his life.

When I first heard the news, I felt a deep sadness which might seem odd to those who are unfamiliar with online posting. But I've grown close to Mark in our brief time here and he will be missed. His kindness and consideration towards others was greatly appreciated by many and his passing will leave an emptiness that only he could fill.

I liked reading his posts, seemed like an inquisitive and smart person, as well as a fundamentally nice guy, thoughts with his family and friends. RIP.

Visitation

Mark was one of the first students I ever had. He was always quick to laugh and eager to learn and improve. He will be missed.

“When you part from your friend,
you grieve not;

For that which you love most in him
may be clearer in his absence,
as the mountain to the climber
is clearer from the plain.”

There is a face behind each online name, but for Mark, it seemed like his online name was behind his face. What I mean by that, is I can tell you what Mark believed in, while I can't say the same for most others.

This is really well said. He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. A rare and very admirable quality. He will be missed.

Wow this is really terrible :/ He really genuinly seemed to have turned his life around. Feels like just a week ago I gave him tips in the travel thread and now he's gone. RIP.

Visitation

Mark. He lived and existed with a real enthusiasm. Unlike so many others that blend into the crowd, Mark made a real impression on people. He will be remembered and missed.

ok posting this here now

That is Marks service information and guest book. I ask that if you still wish to say something put it through chopstick but if you insist on using the guest book be polite and respectful.
If you plan to visit I would again post it here or ask people who were close how the family is handling all of this.

There is still no cause of death given to us and at this point I think its safe to assume that whatever it was the family has purposefully not released it. That's not uncommon in the death of a young man so don't assume the worst please.

Once the funeral is over Wed I will pull this thread down the LC thread for the month was named in his honor and will serve as out reminder.

Damn, someone from (my very small) HS just died this week too at 31. Too young, man. RIP, Mark. Condolences to all those who were close to him.

I remember he gave me some good advice on how to handle a situation with a friend of mine who is an alcoholic/drug addict. Strangely, my friend's name is also Mark.

He always seemed very genuine from the limited amount of posts/interactions I have had with him on 2plus2.

RIP.

I know its selfish (and maybe this should be in low-content thread) - but I hate not knowing how someone died. Maybe it has to do with considering my own mortality (that won't happen to me!) - but in any case - the unknown is tough.

Yea, it sucks, and IMO it's just gonna make people assume the worst - but you gotta respect the wishes of the family in situations like this. It's none of our business.

I don't really agree - there are obviously people on here who would consider themselves his friend, and friends should be entitled to know.

A little under 3 hours left for anyone else who wants to write something up for delivery at the visitation tonight. We have some good entries so far, take a look at them for inspiration if you want to say something but aren't sure what to say.

That's not necessarily the case. Sometimes the family just doesn't think it's anyone's business. My first thought with a young death is car accident.

I'm headed over to drop off the visitation condolences now. I am not going to ask what happened, but if someone tells me on their own accord, I'll relay it.

This is horrible, I remember reading about his Euro trip and feeling that it would help him with all the changes he had undertaken. Was nice to see him so pumped, and now this.
RIP.

If that's the case, perhaps your post and Geaux's should be deleted as well.

It's human decency, respect the wishes of the family (if they were the ones who deleted).

Never knew the guy and never even read the thread "wvuskinfan and I" or whatever but its still sad to see a member of our community pass. Wish the best to his family and to those on the forum who are affected by the loss.

I agree it's difficult to not be curious about the cause but in the end it makesd no difference
