Man, this triggered the most random memory...I grew up in the 70s in a rural area, lots of family farms and my elementary school was probably 60% Mexican. This one kid used to always wear a captain's hat like Daryl Dragon, and we all called him The Captain.

He either moved or went to a different jr. hi because we never saw him for a couple years and then in HS he shows up, born again hard as a cholo. Hairnet, white t, khakis, and probably a good 6-8" taller.

Was walking around campus and he's hanging out with his homies...I nod and say, "Hey Captain..." and he looks at me, takes a second to register, and starts cracking up.
