Ketchup, mayo, mustard, ranch, barbecue sauce - doesn't matter. Whatever floats your boat. But anyone who puts vinegar on fries is a straight up moran.

I haven't had vinegar on fries in years. Don't know why. Can confirm it's great. Malt vinegar, obviously; white vinegar is only good for cleaning.

Fry eaters: mayo+ketchup best dipping sauce. Optionally with some hot sauce/sriracha/etc mixed in. Euros got it right with flavored mayos for fries.

I've never ordered fish and chips. It sounds too British but I might have had it and just didn't realize what I was eating.

Malt vinegar on fries is good when eating fried fish/seafood.

El D: I like mustard+mayo(70/30) on fries. A course dijon is the best mustard to use.

Vinegar on fries is fine. Mayo on fries is gross. Best fry condiment is hot mustard sauce from McDonald's.

Yea flavored mayos and aiolis are delicious and easily best fry dipping sauces. No shame in variety tho.

Malt vinegar good with fried fish so probably decent in fries but the lack of a fish flavor would be kinda off.

What would be delicious would be fries that get fried in oil that a restaurant uses for fish with Malt vinegar.

Was in London for the first time a few weeks ago, so I had to try fish and chips. Conclusion: vinegar is terrible on fries. USA#1.

Exactly, round here we call that fry sauce. I've posted in the FF about asking for fry sauce when traveling and getting some crazy looks while being handed ketchup.

Few weeks back I tried Heinz 57 w/ mayo as a secret sauce for a steak sandwich and that treated me mighty fair as well.

Strong choice for a one-off but I think that wouldn't be that great as a recurring thing. Honey Mustard from Wendy's otoh is the GOAT with fries.
