LBR are you sure you don't mean ureter instead of urethra? IME, and what I've read, is the pain is generally worst when the stone is leaving the kidney and going into the ureter, and while it's passing in the ureter to the bladder. I have had stones take 6 weeks to pass.

The urethra is larger than the ureter so I've never even noticed any pain while it's passing the last 9".

If you're a soda drinker it's time to give that up. Drinking lemonade and lots of water should be your new normal. I remember my first stone, laying in bed in agony, and making a plan to shower and pack a bag before going to the emergency room because I was certain I was going into the hospital for some major surgery and would probably die there. I wanted to at least be clean and wearing comfortable pj's when I passed.

I told everyone 8. I saw the last lady write down 10 before pumping me full of heroin.

I thought they said urethra, I don't know though.

Bring on the pethidine. Gl lbr. Drink water and then drink some more. It's pretty much the most important thing to do.
07-26-2018 , 11:19 PM
That sounds so awful. Desperately hope I don't have to deal with that.
07-26-2018 , 11:20 PM
Yikes. Good luck LBR.

Doesn't make much difference to you at that point. It isn't like you have some choice over the routing.

Hugs LBR. That are really ****ty situations where I can't think of anything smartassyhelpfull to say.

It's not like he has bees in his drawers.

I had a friend pass one in the middle of nowhere while on a chinese bus. Sounded like hell.

Nice of you to think of your dog even under those circumstances, good luck.

De Cap,

Did you successfully murder your neighbour take out that nest?
07-27-2018 , 12:24 AM
Not yet. I've been busy, but it's rapidly moving up the list of things to do.

Apparently the smaller your dick, the more they hurt.
I forget which medical journal I read that in.

You’re being triggering to people with micropenises, CodeSis

I was going to start a thread, but I think lists kind of suck.

If you could somehow know the answer to one forum-related question, what would it be?

There's a vast body of unknown things for a variety of reasons, but in the end, I think I really want to know what's become of the chess set.
07-27-2018 , 01:11 AM
lol I forgot about the chess set. Im not going to waste my question figuring out what el d does. Im going to need time to think.

manbearpig all ****ing day.

I read regular tea can cause them, haven't drank it in years as a result.

Knock on my wood, no stones yet.
07-27-2018 , 02:45 AM
I had THE STONES once, woke up at 5am thinking I was legit going to die soon and spent 3 days in hospital hopped up on vicodins. Good times.

oT - I was thinking about the chess set 2-3 days ago lol

lbr - sorry to hear that, dude. Not much worse than kidney stones. Bad news is that once you get one stone, you are far more likely to get another. Good news is that your definition of pain gets redefined to grouping things into either kidney stones or not kidney stones, and everything in the second category is meaningless. I also know what it is to lay on the floor puking purely from pain and being unable to do anything else. The worst part is when the puking prevents you from taking pain meds because they just come right back up. Which means the pain continues, which means you can never get the meds down. My pain tolerance is extremely high but I wouldn't wish kidney stones on anyone.

Gotta echo the advice to switch to water & lemonade/limeade as your primary drinks, and maintain intake volume of >2.5L/day. Depending on the stone composition (usually calcium oxalate), citrate inhibits stone formation by binding with calcium. This prevents the calcium from binding with oxalate, which means less chance of calcium oxalate stone formation. SCIENCE, bitches! Note that citrate is not as relevant for non-CO stones.

The issue with lemonade is if you drink one with high sugar content, you get the downsides of sugar. You can take potassium citrate tablets instead of lemonade to get the citrate without the sugar.

Reducing salt intake is also helpful. Drink a lot to constantly be flushing the kidneys.

Since I'm just some random on the internet, here is a link to a double blinded study:

POTASSIUM-MAGNESIUM CITRATE IS AN EFFECTIVE PROPHYLAXIS AGAINST RECURRENT CALCIUM OXALATE NEPHROLITHIASIS

and if you want to learn more about stones and prevention techniques, here is an excellent website run by a doctor at UoChi who specializes in kidney stone research. He has a lot of useful advice and has a fun writing style as well. He's not as much on #teamlemonade due to the sugar issues - both general sugar issues as well as stone specific issues like how they raise urinary calcium levels. This article where he hates on sugar while also talking about how much he loves it is pretty funny.

de cap - remember how I loaded up on all those simply lemonades in Hawaii? Don't recall if I ever explained it to you but yeah this was why.

Dodger - read this. Oxalate hysteria is pretty overblown in the media re: stones, because most journalists don't understand concepts like bioavailability, chemical binding, etc. High oxalate foods like tea are not automatically "bad".

I’ve had one. They hurt like hell. I had no idea what was going on and ended up calling an ambulance. I was out of my mind with pain until the morphine hit, and then: wheeeeeeeee!

He posted elsewhere, I think some months after yeti for whatever reason locked that thread, that he had stayed with his wife.

Obviously that doesn't mean they're still together now, but there was no immediate split.
