Hot sake is revolting though.

My assumption is the "boxed" part of the calculus was the issue and that it would be pretty gross regardless.

I was going to write that cold (well, cool) >>>>> warm, but I don't know that I've ever had any decent sake warm (I doubt it.) The warm sake I have had, however, tasted like what happens right before you throw up.

I love Japan. There are certain fish I crave that you can only get over there.

One time we were in vegas and they have those magazines in the room that advertise everything in the city. There was an advertisement for Thunder Down under. Which is male strippers. So we took our friends digital camera and took a picture of the advertisement. It looked so real. Then we set him up perfectly so he could show us his pictures. When the oiled up dudes in bow ties showed up on his camera he got so mad.

I was impressed by the vending machine that delivered a hot coffee.

I’m moving - after 5 years with a personal trainer - tip her?

Picking up the drinks is SOP in Washington too. Its so alcohol isnt put into water bottles, etc.

You guys saying that 24 hour alcohol sales are standard outside of Nevada?

We just called it "40s night" when I was in college. I invited a girl and a few days before she called me to ask how people dressed in the 40s. I should've let her get dressed up instead of explaining.

It’s the single most infuriating thing about drinking socially in California. You know that if you want to enjoy your last beer or cocktail order it by 1:15 because they literally will grab the drink out of your hand after 2:00 strikes.

It’s a great example of how California government sucks really bad.

I was talking about casinos. They’re different because you still hang out there after cutoff time. At bars, they typically just make sure everyone is out the door before 2am.

I don’t recall how things worked in Colorado, but you’re not going to find many bars in San Diego where you get to leisurely hang out and finish your drink til 215 or whatever. Some neighborhood dive bars full of regulars will skirt the law a bit, but it’s pretty rare.

Nothing really special about California there.

I need somewhere to direct my rage about this though.

Don’t make me double it up at you, El D!

Nat,

Don’t double up, let the pissed off build up inside you.

I vaguely remember something on the California ballot about extending the drinking hours to 3 AM - I guess it didn’t pass
07-14-2018 , 06:42 PM
I had a roommate from new york and it’s like 4am there, and he has a habit of drinking til 5 or 6 in the morning - i hated it, could never last that long.

The last call stuff reminded me of a story.

Growing up in California, and later Arizona, I never knew anything other than last call. In fact, for a while, last call in AZ was 1am. It has since been changed to 2.

Anyway, I have to go to Moline, IL for a business meeting. It is mid Feb. I fly from Phoenix to Minneapolis to catch a connecting flight to Moline. It was 80deg in Phoenix when we took off. I wasn’t really thinking about it when I boarded the plane in a t-shirt and shorts. Lol.

Get in to Minneapolis in what I can only describe as a blizzard. Flight leaving is an hour late and it is one of those small twin prop planes. We had to walk down the stairs onto the tarmac to get on the Buddy Holly plane. It was so cold, it is easily one of the top ten most painful moments of my life.

I’m already uneasy about this little plane but I’m starting to feel better as I thaw out as we taxi to the top of runway and get a final de-icing. We make the turn and start to accelerate down the runway and the plane dies. Just literally dies. Lights go out. Engines quit. Dead. All I can think about is, another minute and we would have been in the air and it would have ended in a ball of fire.

Long story short, I’m frozen and we finally get back into the terminal while they arrange for another plane. I’m exploring my options as I no longer want to fly. I’m prepared to walk to Moline at this point. It is midnight.

All I want is a drink to calm down.

Around 3:30, we get on another small plane, I verified it was not the same plane, and off we go. We get into Moline in one piece and by the time I get to the hotel, it is around 5am. I’m walking into the lobby when out of the corner of my eye, I see a bar that appears to be open. I assume I am hallucinating as it is 5am. But I can see someone is in there. So I walk over and sure as ****, it is open. Apparently, they only close 30 minutes a day for clean up. It turned a horrible day into one of the best.

This is the way things should be. If I want to drink at 5am after narrowly avoiding death by plane crash, I should be able to.

I made my 1pm meeting but I doubt I was at the top of my game.

Great story. Glad you're around to tell it.

Poker: In sf you need to stop drinking at 2, but you can start bright and early at 6.

J: there have been a bunch of attempts to extend last call til 4am in California. This is the latest one: https://sf.eater.com/2018/6/1/174181...er-bar-alcohol

Last call in Louisville KY is 4am. It's 2am in the rest of the state.

They don't come around and take drinks from you or kick you out at 4am either.

There's been plenty of times when I was out partying with a group of friends and we'd order 10-15 shots and a couple of pitchers of beer at 3:45 and sit there nursing the drinks until 6am when they could start selling again.

Think I might attend Forecastle festival in Louisville tomorrow.
07-14-2018 , 08:33 PM
Forecastle isn't a bad festival but Bourbon & Beyond and Louder Than Life are much better.

Getting a couple free passes because sister-in-law is prego and tapped out early. I’ll take it.

For those of you who might recall yayogate, here's a bit of an amusing addendum:

Nothing about this guy seemed right. His explanations of the debts didnt add up, he was all over the place, and he was a complete arrogant mouthy prick who was ultra demanding and a ****ty person. I question if these debts exist, and I HIGHLY question if he did in fact cheat. This was the fishiest most questionable person I came across in my time collecting.

I worked with a global group. I was the front guy cause the others wanted to remain anonymous and I simply didnt care about repercussions or consequences.

Our method was to contact the debtor first about the debt and ask for payment and inform them what we do if they dont pay. If no pay, then we contact their parents and friends, then their work. If they still dont pay then we construct a Sex Offender profile of them usually related to pedophilia and drop it virally into their city/state/family/friends/work. By now they usually have paid. We can construct arrest warrants, put people on the no fly list, the terrorist list. We are unparalleled in photoshopping, finding real identities simply from a screenname and cracking passwords. We got hired because we got the job done. Except for some kid with the last name Moon, he ended up in jail in Chicago.

I still stay in contact with my group but we are done. Got other projects on the go now
