I PM'd him, as I know you've been aware you've revealed your identity on here previously and weren't very worried about it.

My days of popping out to Vegas to play or watch people play poker are safely behind me, thank God, but if they weren't I would!

You'd think someone whose profession is literally founded on confidentiality would understand that you don't go around outing people's personal information without their consent.

One of the guys on the leaderboard was a local Magic "celebrity" back in the day. Had the distinction of getting disqualified from a major event for cheating lol.

I don't know who that is, and since it's a matter of public record and happened 100 years ago, it's Casey McCarrel.

I've been fascinated by the whole thing, but only because of the crazy amount of money that we as a collective society will spend to find a dozen people lost in a cave, but would let them all die for a small fraction of that if they were sick and had no insurance, but I didnt know how to discuss that without it just turning into AIDS politics.

I also think its pretty fascinating that the coach is probably going to be treated as a hero when its all said and done, and really he should probably go to jail. Also, when he writes a book or this is turned into a movie, hell get to keep all the money when really shouldnt it all go to repaying the efforts that went into finding them, or to the guys family that died while trying to rescue them?

Why are the waterfall chasers so reviled? Quick google showed they went off the designated path in a dangerous part of yellowstone then plead guilty and apologized. Is it just that people think this was inevitable because they are idiots?

Thai kids is a crazy situation. I cant believe leaving them in the dark and having divers bring them food for four months is actually a reasonable option... but it totally seems reasonable somehow. Tragic about the diver too.

I feel a bit the same way with crazy inexperienced people who go sailing and then expect rescuing when they get into trouble. Especially galling when you consider the money that will be made from book sales. Still I guess I'd want the stupid bastids saved if they were my loved ones. Sorry I've just totally deviated from the whole Thai cave kid saga.

Dr. Chessbaby,

It took me 3 minutes to figure our who Howard is with just the information given in the last page, but I had also just PM'd a reg asking them before that. No need to get the vapors in the lc thread buddy.

Howard,

Jesus dude, you're a stone cold KILLER and that has nothing to do with poker.

Howard is my personal hero.

Down to his interactions with Jonathan Banks.

Reinhold Messner was the first man to climb Mt. Everest without the use of compressed oxygen. When he was interviewed by a reporter, he was asked…”Why did you go up there knowing you could have died? Why did you go up there to die?” He responded…

“I didn’t go up there to die. I went up there to live.”
It's not just about the human life. It's about human ingenuity.
