As goofball said you can't put it on Verizon. What he would need to do is have your carrier unlock it (not sure if att will do that for you anymore) to go with a different SIM type carrier.
If it's for a kid that doesn't talk much he could use it on Wal-Mart's exclusive T-Mobile 30/month no contract/prepaid plan. 100 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited web.
