Probably was. But there had to be something to go along with Apple's purchase of it and that was the obvious way to go.

And someone thinks that "something" was to force people to spend hundreds of dollars on headphones for their iPhones? ORLY?

I know what I meant. There was more to it, but I'm not typing it all out.

Obvious to get rid of universal headphone port to sell a few more headphones at the cost of phone/app/ad revenue?

Lol

I don't know if that is even feasible, but it is worrisome.
I hope this is just a rumor. AAPL would take a big hit on this if true

The no third party headphone thing was actually an issue on the original iPhone. They used a deeper headphone jack and only certain headphones worked with it. If your headphone plug wasn't long enough you had to buy a special adapter from apple.

Small chance that if you hate your battery, Apple will replace it:

Seems line AT&T has changed the way they get a new phone to you

When I got my 5 I paid $199. Now they say when new 6 comes out I have to pay full price (not even sure how much that will be) but my monthly rate will be slightly cheaper and I get more data.

I think this might put a crimp on iPhone sales if people have to shell out $700 all at once.

Thx for this. My battery does go from 40% to zero in 5 sec

I could do without a headphone jack and use the lightning or especially wireless headphones, that would be a plus, but being tied to Beats or any particular brand would be a dealbreaker for sure.

For my purposes I don't need anything but the battery upgraded and a larger screen. **** the whole super-thin angle that does nothing for me. Add a half pound and a quarter inch thickness for all I care. Otherwise I'm just going to put a battery case on it anyway.

edit: or, likely just stay with the 5 like I'm probably doing anyway.

This is the only mention I see of this rumor: http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonke...l-makes-sense/

and it's all speculation. We'll know in a couple of weeks but I doubt Apple would limit the 6 to really expensive headphones. Dropping the 3.5mm jack for lightning jack only isn't out of the question but would mean a cheap set of Apple ear buds way before Beats only.

Also limiting the 3.5mm jack eliminates accessories - mobile credit card readers for one

Mine sucks, but I have a small scratch on my screen. Probably not worth paying to get it fixed just so Apple will replace my battery.

Yeah my battery is eligible, I have a small dead area in a corner of my screen from when I dropped it. It isn't cracked though, so I wonder if they will replace it. I'll go in tomorrow or something.

My battery is atrocious. It will drop from 50% to 1% on a regular basis instantaneously.

lol Apple won't replace the battery if you have a scratched screen? Absurd if true.

I'm thinking if the screen is scratched it's fine - if the whole thing is cracked everywhere like most 18 year old girls iPhones are, they're saying that would interfere with the replacement and you need to do that first. At least that's what I'm taking from their ambiguous wording.

Lotta companies give you the option of discounted rate or discounted phone

Oh man this 5s processor is amazing. Would've upgraded long ago if I knew this was the difference.

You didn't wanna wait for the iPhone 6 next month? I may still go with the 5S because I'm not sure I want a bigger screen but I'm still gonna wait for the 6 to decide.

I think I posted my explanation in my last few posts here, but basically I don't want to potentially wait a long time when I have some **** broken in my current 4 and it's being so slow. Plus it'll be way more expensive and have lots of delays/hardware problems in the new phone. My 4 was one of the first ones and it has that problem where if you grip the phone too hard it cuts off the internet.

I bought a new battery with tiny tools on eBay for $5. Took me 2 min to change it.

There is almost zero chance apple is going to make a proprietary headphone jack. I should probably remind everyone that it was apple that opened the market up to the universal heaphone jack in the 1st place as sony, samsung, ect all had their own proprietary garbage.

The original iphone had an annoying stupid jack that wouldn't allow you to use normal jack with it.

They got utterly slated for it and used the standard jack from the 3g onwards.
