I've been getting tired of running the battery dead in marathon live tournaments.

The end of a tournament is when I might need some of my apps the most (priceline to book a hotel because I made day 2, poker apps like icm for calculating possible final table chops, 2+2 to brag about another cash) but this is when I usually have a dead battery.

Thought about the mophie juice cases but I'll be buying the iphone 6 in a few months so why spend $100 on a case for iphone 5. Then I thought of an external battery charger. That would be perfect.

Is anyone out there using some? Interested to hear some reviews and what brands you are using.

Anyone had an issue with charging their phone?
I've never dropped it, but suddenly the only way it will charge is if I rig to to where the cord is bent at all most a 90 degree angle. Hard to put it into words.

I had a problem once but it turned our I had some plastic shavings in my lighting port.

Never had any other problem since. Does the same with any charging cable?

I've had cables go bad.

Also yesterday, I had to clean the port of my sons ipod because it stopped charging. It uses the old connector type. I just used a small strip of paper folded over and dipped in alcohol. I rubbed it back and forth over the connector. I ipod now charges fine.

Unfortunately happens with multiple cords.
Maybe I'll try to clean it some how.

I think the chargers are a lot cheaper than they used to be but when I looked into this it was hard not to just get an ipad instead. You can find good deals on ipad mini retina for $350. the ipad battery lasts way longer and can do most everything your phone can. I also recommend turing your brightness all the way down in a casino.

iPad is a good point. I just picked one up for another use but I can still iMessage if I have wifi and all apps would work. Thanks!

I have had good luck with New Trent battery packs. I have the one below but they have bigger ones as well.

You can also get really cheap Chinese ones but they often Don't have any indication of being charged and tend to crap out pretty quickly.

Weird, as of 3 days ago my girlfriends and my phone are doing almost the same thing. Both of them happened the same night. We tried a few different cords, outlets, etc. Gotta jiggle cord until it starts to charge and then not move it.

Sounds like multiple cords going out more likely than both phones acting up, especially with the bending of cord making a difference

One or both of you prolly pull on the device while connected to the cord rather than pulling cord out causing them to flake out

I know it seems that way, buy I've tried 5 cords. One of which wasn't ours. I realize it doesn't make any sense but seemed topical. I have some other known problems (power button doesn't work well) so I'm just getting it replaced anyways. Will test other cords after I do that with new phone.

I left my cord plugged in on the kitchen counter and the connectors got submerged into a puddle. This quickly oxidized one of the connector pins on one side of the charger. So now my iphone five charger that used to plug both ways only charges one way.

I've gone thru 3 of them. All 3 just stopped working for no reason. Luckily I live near an apple store and they just trade me for a new one everytime. The cords just suck plain and simple

I want to get a month to month cell phone plan carrier and had used virgin mobile previously and paid 35+tax a month for my android phone... which i canceled the plan later on and am not going to use the phone anymore. Phone was an optimus v... it very slow and lagged. Im not interested in the iphone 5 b/c i dont like that its much bigger screen and also b/c its lot expensive.

I had previously owned an ipod touch that was 32gb but that no longer works. So i would like to get an iphone. Is it worth it to get iphone 4? I read that its very outdated and doesnt run lot of programs. Thing is im not going to download that many apps etc but is it really that slow?

It seems like then iphone 4s would be perfect compromise? I read some people with iphone 4s doesnt even want to upgrade to 5 and those who did, they still prefer the 4s. I could get virgin mobile iphone 4 8gb for 160+tax and iphone 4s 8gb for 280+tax at their website. I would prefer the 16gb one for 4s but they dont have any available. I found online on ebay some people sell the iphone 4s 16gb for roughly the same price for a brand new iphone 4s 8gb for virgin mobile. Would you say that is fine? Never owned a used phone or any used electronic. The thing is i read 8gb is way too little space if you want to put lot of stuff on the phone.

Is it even possible to buy the iphone 4s 16gb new? I cant find it anywhere. I would prefer it to be virgin mobile but tmobile has it for 450+ and of course their plans cost more than virgin mobile. I would only be using the 300 min plan b/c i rarely use that many minutes. However, the thing is i don't plan to activate my phone for a few months b/c i will not be in the usa.

Thank you.

I have one and it is really that slow, especially after going to ios7. I would recommend against it.

Regarding the charging issue - bending the chord around the phone - you have muck in the connection port on your phone. I had the exact same thing.

Take it to an apple store and they'll fix it for you in five minutes. Don't try to clean it out yourself, though, as it is apparently very easy to damage the internals.

Question:

My work recently gave us Iphone 5's. There are rumors that our managers can track us at any given point in a day. What apps can do this? Is it possible that it is not done through an app? Any input would be appreciated, thanks

If your managers have the Apple ID password, they'll be able to track you via the 'Find My iPhone' app.

My stepdaughter recently got the 5c as a gift from her dad. She has only 330 pics and 35 videos on the phone and her photos and camera usage is at 9.6 gb. In comparison I have the 5 with 570 pics and 25 videos and my gb usage is 2.0. What can be so different that her usage is so high?

The length of the videos?

I take a guess and say her videos are longer.
