I just bought a new battery and replaced it a year in as started having issues. Well worth the $30.

I didn't even know this was possible, can you do this in an Apple Store? $30 is a snap call for me.

A lot of people are having battery issues with iOS7. I'm going to the Apple Store next week just to get my phone checked out to make sure it's not a faulty battery. It's probably just the crappy software though.

Costs way more at apple store. I bought from ifixit and used their guides. Pretty easy on the battery but not a good idea if you have never used tools.

Has anyone ever tried what happens if you turn off basically everything (WiFi, Cellular, Bluetooth etc) and only use phone for calling and texting, and that also rarely?

I have to use my old iPhone 4 for 2nd phone (selling some **** and don't want to use my real number) for a while and IIRC I recharged it to full 4 days ago, it's been on since then, just haven't done anything and it's on 82%... Can current smartphones actually go 2 weeks if you don't do anything with them, just keep them on to receive calls?

Most can't but the iPhone can, particularly the iPhone 4. It had the best battery life of any iPhone to date. Just curious, what software do you have installed?

I put a payg sim into my old iphone 3g and it lasted literally weeks on a full charge, wifi, bluetooth, data, push all turned off.

A couple days ago, I finished putting my contacts and calendar in icloud. I have the calendar and contacts in Outlook on my PCs, the ipad, iphone, ipod and my Android phone all linked up. I use programs like iCloud manager for the PC (Apple), CalDAV and CardDAV (Google Play Store). All are free.

It's nice that Outlook is natively supported. No logging into websites or files to transfer. Everything just works. Data is automatically synchronized in the background. iCloud even works great with Android.

Oh and the other big thing... I can completely dump itunes and itunes sync'ing.

I've had to charge my iPhone 5 3 times during the past 20 hours and I haven't even played a single game.

I think it's time to buy a new battery from eBay.

150 bucks? That's ridiculous.

Yeah it's quite pricey!

The battery only ones are 80, not too bad.

Yeah I have the juice pack plus. I think it's time to start using it 24/7.

I'd gladly use a phone that's twice the thickness if it meant better battery life. That's my one complaint about my iPhone. If I go work out in the morning and stream Pandora or a podcast on LTE I've only got like 40% remaining on my battery. That's not good enough.

Has anyone jailbroken their idevices yet? I was thinking about doing it just for pwntunes and batterylife. Is the current jailbreak clean and stable like previous releases?

Anyone have good experiences with T-Mobile and the Iphone 5/5s? I'm thinking of switching over from Verizon this week. T-Mobile has an unlimited talk, text and data for $70 a month, which is pretty amazing.

if you actually need both the extra battery and memory then it doesn't seem like a bad price at all when compared to alternative solutions.

Hmm, AT&T's new family share plan gives you a $15/month discount if your phone isn't on contract. That means you are pretty much directly paying for phone subsidies now.

Good: My old as hell iPhone 4 is saving me $15/month.
Bad: I don't know if I'll be able to make myself buy new phones anymore now that they cost $560 instead of $200.

Make sure you get the t-mobile specific version. Not sure if it is still an issue but I remember my unlocked 5 which was the ATT version since that is the only they sold at the time couldn't get true 4G or LTE. One of those, on T-mobile because of a firmware restriction or some nonsense.

You know you don't need LTE 90% of the time. Huge battery suck still and I leave off for everything but video or when my 4G connection is bad.

I've had TMobile since May. I got an iPhone 5 when they just got them and were selling them for $580. The service is pretty much always 5 bars except for inside some houses/buildings. I live and work in the general LA area though.

You can't beat the cost and I wouldn't go back to AT&T or Verizon. Also I've been told they will give you the unlock code as long as you've paid off your phone, so once the 6 comes out, I'll sell this and use it to get the 6 at no money up front with still no contract.

The 5s is the same between AT&T and T-Mobile.

T-Mobile now will pay your EFT if you switch to them. Port your number, turn in a phone (ANY phone), get credit towards buying a new one. Send in your final bill with your EFT on it, and get reimbursed.

Check sensorly.com or rootmetrics.com for specific coverage questions.

(disclaimer, I work for T-Mobile).
