Don't worry. I did a lot of research and I've come to the conclusion that if it shows up at your door on the 22nd or 23rd it will still be an iPhone.

Although Im a big apple-fanboy I´m gonna pass on this one. Rather donk the money away playing poker - So at least the community gets something back..You could say I invest in future poker pros...They will recognize me soon as a great personality in poker, for giving so much back to the community

Seriously though, I dont see the point in buying the iphone-5, my iphone 4 still working fine. And there are no new features I desperately need. If I had too much money, say 500k, I would probably buy the whole apple sortiment ,lol - but I want to "win" those things. So I probably buy the most expensive macbook ever - investing 10k in poker to win the 2k for the macbook

Hard to believe I've had that 4S for almost a year now. Best phone I've ever had. Don't feel the need to upgrade anytime soon.

It seems like a lot of people aren't upgrading from the 4S to the 5. I was debating whether to bother or not, and when I had gone on the apple site on Thursday night, the site was so flooded that I couldn't. In the end, I'm SO glad I couldn't, because I was prepared to pay the $800 for it. When I tried Friday morning, it said something about shipping in 2 weeks, so I figured I'd hold off.

I went to the Bell store at the mall, since I happened to be at the mall anyways. Got the 32 gb on a 3 year plan (which is fine...I've been with the same phone company for 11-12 yrs now) for only $279. And I'll sell my 4S for $400-$450, as it is factory unlocked and seems to be the going rate on Kijiji.

I figure for a "free" exchange, I couldn't pass it up. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with my original plan of alternating between getting a carrier subsidized phone and buying the phone outright from Apple, and selling each time.

I have this deep, irrational fear that if my iPhone arrives any later than 2pm on 09/21, I'll open the box to find a rock inside.

It's far more likely that if if isn't on your doorstep by 2pm on 9/21 that it's just never coming, instead of there being a rock inside. Hope that helps.

I'm confused, I bought the phone at 3:05 est on verizonwireless.com on the release date and my credit card has been authorized already. I can't find my order number anywhere on the website, it is the most poorly designed site I have ever come across. They make everything such a pain in the ass.

So if I havent ordered an iphone5 yet, and dont plan to stand in any crazy lines or anything else thats a lot of effort, whats the earliest I should be able to walk into a verizon store and buy one?

LOL. I know I'm being irrational, its just frustrating to see everyone else talk about theirs being shipped and mine is still being prepared I feel left out lol.

I hope it arrives before I go to the Mets game on Friday.

I'm sorry, it's just absurd to pay that much per month for phone services. I'll stick to my disposable phone that I refill with $30 worth of credits every two months paired with an iPod Touch. (My wife has an iPhone, so I can use hers for data if we're out and about together).

It will be much longer than a month. Last year, it was January with the 4S. It will be the same or maybe even a little longer this time with the 5. I would guess longer because they are already talking about production issues.

You can't get one right now in the US. It will be at least a month or two at minimum before the unlocked version goes on sale.

Apparently they won't be selling unlocked versions at all.

Sure they will. They are already selling them in other countries, Canada I know for sure right off the top of my head.

They always wait a month or two in the US to do it.

God, I can't wait for my iPhone to come. Pre-Ordered it Saturday. Expected ship date is Oct. 5th, but I'm gonna venture and say it'll be here around the 28th.

Oh sry, they were refering to "on launch day" no unlocked iPhones will be sold.

“Due to Apple’s renewed focus on in-store iPhone contracts, unlocked iPhones will be unavailable at launch at Canada Apple Stores”

First reviews are up. Most are pretty positive. High marks to the speed of the device and battery life especially.

Assuming some of you guys already have iPhones, why do you jones so hard for a new phone? I have a 4s and this new phone seems meh, aside from the LTE. If the battery didn't suck ass on the 4s, I could see keeping it for like 4 years.

Is there any truth to the whole thing about letting the battery run down before charging to preserve battery life? Something tells me that has to be BS but I keep hearing it.

Nope. It used to be true for older battery technology but with modern Li-ion batteries it's not an issue.

Cell phone batteries (and most Li-Ion batteries) can be charged as often as you want, and indeed should be charged more frequently rather than less frequently. What does eventually kill these batteries is extended time at either fully-charged or fully-empty. This is why modern cell phones shut off before you can fully drain the battery, and also stop charging the battery when it reaches 100%, instead letting it drain a little bit before re-charging.
