At least now we know why Howard likes to keep his shoes off as much as possible.

His poor dentist must be really cash strapped.

My foot issues are entirely nonsexual. I do have mild foot problems with one foot; I’ve been refusing surgery on it for fifteen years. But it makes most shoes slightly painful and it would seem super weird to me to have one shoe in and one shoe off

Being into feet on the inside is a sure way to get your wig split

Freezing fruit juice to make fruit juice slushies is such next level technology that I'm probably going to evolve into Roko's basilisk momentarily.

You’re having weird syntax issues lately, chop. Are you going to develop that technology? Or are you suggesting that frozen slushees act to evolve you into the Basilisk?

Am I right in thinking that by "straight ahead style" you mean that in living memory kickers over the age of 8 used to run up and toe poke the ball over Charlie Brown style?

I prefer to think of it as Mark Moseley style.

Not only that, the last one was league MVP in 1982 despite missing 3 out of 19 extra points.

Football was weird that year.

Anybody here ever have any experience w/ the power company wanting an easement across your property? Having a hard time figuring out how to even begin calculating a value.

Obv. lawyer up but it seems most of them specialize in disputes.

I'd start by saying no thanks and go from there.

Basic idea is to evaluate your property before and after. You should get at least the difference. You should look very carefully onto what rights you give them and which obligations does that put on you also long term.

I had a friend who made huge loss. It was not a power company but some kind of water company that wanted an easement for a pipe. As a result area of 1 m to the left and to the right was required to kept clear forever and is allowed to dig any time water company wants it. He somehow didn't read it all carefully enough and has now a ton of problems.

^^ Not reading the water contract was definately a leak.
12-13-2017 , 04:13 PM
It was not for his water. And he kind of read the thing, but didn't pay attention to the points that allowed the company to dig huge holes in his property at any time and for any length of time.

But basically how he dealt with it was a leak. Not to let a lawyer read the thing through before signing was not smart.

Are they asking you or telling you?

Asking. They have an easement along the road which will allow them to get where they need to go. If they can gain an easement on my property & the neighbor's property it would save them installing about 400' of overhead line and save them clearing 30' x 1200' of timber to make their current easement usable. If they can gain an easement on only my property it would save them about 150' of overhead line and save them clearing 30' x 500' of timber.

Given that they have an easement that allows them to do what they need I don't think there's any risk of getting condemned.

I'm having a hard time finding any numbers for the cost of installing an overhead line (not a single line but 4 lines to feed a large neighborhood) as well as cost for clearing that much timber, removing stumps & seeding, to give me an idea of their cost savings to use as a starting point in negotiations.

If I gave them the full easement they'd like it'd use 30'x240' across part of my property. I have a decent idea of the lost value. It doesn't have any direct impact on the part of the land I currently use though or I wouldn't even consider it.

The guy who came out was an overly friendly, sleazy "let's get this done" type. His initial offer was a $600 discount on an electrical service I want installed. LOL

simply put: **** 'em.

you don't want above-ground power lines anywhere near your property if you still intend to live there, especially if they are transmitting with high voltage and you get to hear them hum all the time.

tell them to pound sand or sell out to them and sell the place while hoping to avoid the sellers disclosure questions.
12-13-2017 , 09:29 PM
I remember reading a story about this years ago. Some farmer was offered a sum by the power company to run lines through his land, ended up getting far more than their original asking price.

The cost of them to install this is going to be a pretty small factor in the long run imo.
12-13-2017 , 10:05 PM
Yeah, I believe that the cost savings to them if I allow them a shortcut is likely more than the value of the land which means I need to figure out a very rough idea of a power companies cost per foot to clear an easement through heavy timber and put in lines.

My home is 1/2 mile away and on the other side of a small mountain so it has no effect on my quality of life whether it goes on my side of the road or across the road.

I just escaped a room where a giant worm was puking into smaller worms mouths while they chanted, "Glorious milk!" and woke up shivering to an error code on my trucks heater in the middle of Wyoming.
