Yeah.. That's a hummer.

Too extreme? Lmao.... over 12,000 were arrested over the weekend & parisians will be out in force for them next week. Macron holding meeting as we speak.
This ain't over or letting up by a long shot.

Best play now is for Dale to absolutely not whinge at all about this nor even bring it up, while hoping she makes the pragmatic decision AllOnHerOwn to not go to Paris during a riot without her fiance on Christmas

If he brings it up himself, she will go 100% out of stubbornness. Could be good: it'd make for years of awkward story telling as she has to explain to people why she took her daughter alone to a riot zone for christmas.

The story would then be framed as "Being in Paris during a time of extreme historical significance." There's no amount of danger/bad decisions that should get in the way of a good social media brag.

well if she still goes, you can be pretty sure there's a guy involved as no sane woman would put her daughter in danger without some strong assurances (in French)

If you read "assurance" in a bad French accent, that's hilarious.

Your reaction is totally normal, because you've lived together for a year and a half, and you've started a family. Try again to ask her why she wants to go alone with her daughter. Take time to talk to her calmly.

seems like quite an exaggeration. Anyway I hope it is, my daughter is in Paris.

A few years ago my wife was in Bangkok (or maybe Jakarta) and protests/riots of some sort broke out. It was pretty big news here including some pretty intense video. It didn't take much searching to locate where the center of the activity was and it turned out to be two blocks from her hotel. I was, of course, concerned so I asked her if the rioting was having any affect on her or the conference she was at. She didn't know what I was talking about.

Obviously never heard of Rodney King or O.J.Simpson to name a few.

And lol at 12,000 arrested meaning much. Imagine how many dead bodies there’d be (cops, criminals, and innocents) in the process of rounding up 12k people in LA or wherever. Unfortunately we have bragging rights regarding who can riot.

I hope your daughter is OK micro and she was there before this kicked off, If I remember correctly.. Travelling ofc.

Being there & with like minded friends at that age I'm sure she will be safe. And any parent would be concerned.
And as there's a hundred places dales other half could visit with her 8 year old i'd rather exaggerated a little bit than risk putting a 8 year old in danger.
Plus the south of france is warmer & nicer.

Does the bolded include france.....

Well obviously I have.

As I said above, there is plenty more opportunity to go to paris in the future, when there's no tear gas being fired, it only takes 1 incident to end in tears. And dales daughter is 8.
Get real ffs.

I just saw a horrible video on IG from Tuesday where a gunman shot & killed 4 people and wounded another 12 at the famous Christmas market in France. The gunman got away, but has been identified. No arrest yet.

As much jest/shade as I've thrown around ITT, I hope OPs family stays safe.

You're the one contrasting French rioting to the USA (as in - "Europe is not the USA, when they riot it's a ****ing riot mate.") My point was, don't talk about riots to people from the USA until the blood starts flowing and the bodies start dropping.

Of course your point about not a being a great time to visit Paris is valid, especially with an 8 year old.

Regarding the bolded, we had brixton. So now can I talk to US folks..

Anyways I get your point, my statement was written in haste. Can I take that back please?

Point taken RJT...

The point I should have said was that when the french start these protests they tend to gather support from most french people and tend to last a while. There known for getting the solidarity of the country behind them & shutting a lot down.

And we agree on not taking a 8 year old there, so hopefully we're good.

No kidding. I mean look at what happened when Marie suggested to simply eat cake. They pull out the big blades no questions asked. (I know she didn't really say that.)

All good macc
