there should be police for the police and the police police should follow around the police everywhere they go and harass them at unknown unexpected times occasionally with violence if they don't display total submissiveness on command

Even the other cop tried to stop him. He was mad that someone said he was making a mistake. Hurt his fragile ego. He'll go on leave as punishment. Yes, full paid leave for a very long time should teach him a lesson.

The video was just released, but it happened a month ago. His punishment was suspension from the blood draw unit, but he remained on active duty. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...doing-her-job/

There is a much deeper level to this story and explains the police's actions. There was a police chase and their police protocol was being questioned. The driver in the pursuit ended up crashing into a truck and was killed.

There is a concern that the police could be implicated in the death. The driver of the truck had severe burns and was unconscious.

That driver of the truck is the one they wanted the blood sample of to determine (and hope) that he had drugs/alcohol in his system and could be found culpable.

That is why the officer and his boss were so adamant about getting a blood draw. They just didn't go aggro because this was a run of the mill case.

I don't know if you call it a conspiracy but they just didn't decide to arrest a nurse in two minutes because they wanted information. They are desperately trying to protect themselves.

Incredible hole they have dug themselves.

The driver was in the truck. The PD has pursuit policies they may have violated which led to the crash. Concerns over being sued by driver's family and truck driver.

The PD doesn't go into a hospital and arrest a nurse if two citizens are involved. This involved them and that is why there were multiple police officers at the scene who were adamant about getting draw, constitution be damned.

Being adamant is one thing but arresting a nurse while she's on the phone with the hospital administration telling her she can't give them what they want and knowing it would violate HIPAA, takes it to a whole new level. She wasn't authorized to do it and would lose her job and potentially be sued herself for doing so. So they arrest her for that? Come on. If they broke their pursuit policy, that's on them. Arresting a citizen who didn't break the law is yet another violation on them.

Because they are out of control. And if that bodycam didn't come out, this would have been swept under the rug. He was just reassigned and his boss faced no discipline either.

Police shoot unarmed citizens knowing there are bodycams. We don't punish our police. This officer still didn't get punished to end of day when SLC would be facing a serious meltdown of public confidence if they didn't take action.

And there is much more to the story. Which explains the police officer's attitude. If this was just two normal civilians involved in an accident, he wouldn't care at all. This accident involved police and a person dying. Serious stuff.

Just read about this, completely insane that anyone could be so stupid as to think arresting a healthcare professional in their hospital over a matter of policy could possibly be helpful no matter what circumstances they were trying to dig out of.

They weren't thinking straight. They just got out of 100MPH+ pursuit where one person died and another person was severely burned.

There is a lot of data showing high-speed pursuits should be called off when there is an extreme danger to the public. Los Angeles has guidelines for pursuits. I am not sure what exactly SLC's policies are. They may not permitted or advised to engage in 100MPH+ pursuits because the danger to public far outweighs trying to immediately arrest the subject.

And there was danger. An innocent truck driver suffered severe burns and was unconscious. If they violated their own policies, he could have a multi-million dollar lawsuit against them.

I don't know for certain but it would explain why the officer was hyper-demanding, especially with a person that was being extremely reasonable. I am sure he doesn't act like this in every single case. This one was very unique.

"They" didn't just get out of a 100MPH+ pursuit. Maybe you should read the facts before posting.

Now all I can picture is Skylar frantically saying "am I being detained" to Hank over and over again. Thanks a lot.

Not these officers. The police. Who are one unit. They defend themselves no matter what. Just like that police officer that comes on scene at the hospital and says the nurse should have allowed the blood draw and leave it up to the courts to determine if it was legally permitted. There was no discipline of this cop even though they had the body camera showing that what he did was egregious.

Now the conspiracy that is the reason they went bezerko on her in a matter of minutes when she was extremely courteous...it seems there was a lot of urgency.

The other conspiracy, which could be true, is that they were trying to protect the truck driver (as they wrote in the report.) And that could be because he was a reserve sherif officer. I don't know if they had any idea of who he was at the hospital though. And I don't think they would risk the fall-out of a dubious arrest that was being filmed to help a random reserve officer from a different state. I think they were protecting their own.

I just don't think this officer acts like this every time where he got orders to arrest the nurse regardless of what she said. Odd.

wouldn't the results of a positive test for alcohol or whatever drugs get thrown out anyway?

or is it like, once they know the unconscious person was a .06 or whatever it doesn't matter that they didn't follow the chase protocol, they're off free no matter how they got the blood sample?

Because there is a reason she was arrested.

The guy in the hospital was a VICTIM. Why do you think they even cared about testing him for drugs/alcohol? And why would his orders be to arrest her if she doesn't comply with allowing him to draw blood?

She is crying that she doesn't know what is happening and why he is so angry.

Of course she doesn't know why.

Check this garbage out.

Getting arrested for DUIs and being proven sober.

Just because the officer has taken a course on reconizing marijuana impeded driving.

"The course claims better results than a breathilizer or blood tests".
