I’ll lead us off:

There was some compelling reason for me to be wearing socks with flip-flops, but being senile, I have no recollection what it was. Come at me!

Well this is awkward

My feet are whiter than I imagined! I genuinely thought that showed socks. Merely proving the senility point!

why are you starving your cows?

Nice jeans!

I like that he has to hold his paunch in when he bends over.

They are not my cows. Our neighbors occasionally ask us if they can pasture their cows on our property, to which we agree. The cows eat all the grass in the field and we don’t have to mow, so it’s a win-win. I’m not a bovine expert and so don’t know if that cow was in good shape at the time or not, but I had something of the same reaction you did. Our neighbors seem to know what they’re doing, though — they run a small sustainable/organic farm and manage to make a living doing it. They’re extraordinarily kind and pleasant people, both to their animals and to us.

I hope they feed you better when you're over than they do the cows.

Who do you think you are, Gregorio?
11-01-2017 , 03:38 PM
Damn! And all this time I thought McRibs came from pigs.

That is a perfectly fine looking grass fed cow. Corn or grain fed cows are the ones that look plump.

This is my first post outside of the poker strategy forums here, but I stumbled upon this thread and couldn't help myself. I'm a full time beef rancher by day, part time poker grinder by night. Not trying to talk anyone down, but if that were my cow, my first thought would be parasite infestation and I'd be worming her asap. Here's a pic of what my cows look like when on free range grass. Not the best pic for judging body condition, but should at least give an idea of what normal range cattle look like.
11-01-2017 , 05:09 PM
Whoa!

EDIT: pokeraz, credentials please.

HT,
Is this your neighbor's business?
11-01-2017 , 05:31 PM
Cordwood,
Are those beef cattle in your picture? HT's cow looks like a jersey. A jersey isn't ever going to look like your cattle no matter how much you feed it.

ETA:

That hollowed out area behind the ribs is totally normal in jerseys and to a lesser extent so is being able to see their ribs.
11-01-2017 , 05:31 PM
Maybe they're skim milk cows.

Beef cattle and dairy cattle are quite different. The picture in the op does appear to be a Jersey cow which are a small dairy cattle breed. Cattle bred to produce milk are much skinnier than cattle bred for beef.

While I am no expert, I was raised on a ranch that had a small cattle operation. 1200 head or so.

Cow is a dairy cow rather than a beef cow.
11-01-2017 , 06:51 PM
You guys can't fool me. Dairy cows are black and white.
