I just found out why there weren't any kids begging for candy last night. Apparently they cancelled trick or treating b/c of the rain/tornado watch and moved it to tonight.

I never saw an announcement about it last night. I figured it out on my way back from the store when I saw a bunch of parents/kids.

Are you in indy by chance? Same thing here and a giant ****ing tree blew down and missed taking out my daughter's bedroom by like 5 feet.

I'm a cheesecake purist, but reeces looks way better imo.

I'm in Louisville. We mainly had a lot of wind and heavy rain. Nothing too severe.

All,

Thanks for the CF advice. I agree, the Adam's def looks better. My fault for not paying close attention or even considering they might have two different peanut butter cup cheesecakes. Also, I wasn't sure what they meant by Reese's PBC chocolate cake cheesecake until seeing it, at which point of course it's obvious.

Still pretty damn good. I had half a slice and thought I was gonna go into sugar coma.

I'm a cheesecake fanatic. When I go to a restaurant for the 1st time one of the 1st things I look at is the desserts to see what kind of cheesecake they have. There's nothing better than a white chocolate cheesecake with a little blueberry or raspberry glaze drizzled on the top.

Both of the PB cheesecakes look like there's way too much going on to appreciate the actual cheesecake. There's a point when too much is too much.

Advice please

We don't watch much TV. We have netflix streaming. We have a broken Wii. Two children, girls, 11 and 13. The 11yo currently has an interest in Portal, minecraft and I forget a couple other games. The 13yo has never been much for video games, except maybe guitar hero or some karoke thing. When the Wii worked, I went through a brief Call of Duty addiction.

Looking for a device that will play some games on the TV, handle Netflix streaming, and maybe play DVDs. Could be a previous generation thing if it still works fine and we can get a few games for it.

Seems like getting an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 should be good, but I've never used either.

Both will do what you want. I think the Xbox will require an additional charge for Netflix and on-line play but I haven't turned my on for a while.

edited to add: PS3 will play blu-ray and stream netflix which may be important to you.

I dunno what the costs are, but my good friend is in a similar spot (except the 11 yo is a boy) and they swear by the wii u - you can play your netflix on the tablet that comes with it (which kids love for some reason) and have tons of games that your kids would love I'm sure

I wouldn't bother with xbox (lol at additional charges)

you might even be good buying a used/new wii again...

I love my ps3. Blu-ray capability is clutch.

Ask your kids what they want. If your 11 year old wants the XBox she's not going to care that the PS3 you just bought can do trip the GFlops.

That reflects a general truth, but in this case she doesn't have a strong preference. The game she wants now is Portal and it is available for both.

Our TV is nothing special. Will Blu-ray make a difference?

Blu ray + not paying for xbox live subscription just to stream netflix makes PS3 the best choice imo. Unless you're willing to wait a bit and pay a lot more for PS4/XBone.

Blu ray is nice to have but not really that big of a deal, especially if your TV isn't 1080p. You'll probably spend more time streaming netflix than watching blu rays anyway. How "nothing special" is your TV anyway?

ya ps3 easy choice as above says

id just get a used PS3, you can score them pretty cheap. If you wanted to wait a couple months you can get them even cheaper since the next generation units are coming out this month.

All this talk of cheesecake and I just cut into the cheesecake I made last night. Pumpkin cheesecake all from scratch.

Dbz,

Looks like the terrible light/fluffy style cheesecake rather than the awesome super dense style!
11-01-2013 , 11:34 PM
It has 4 packs of cream cheese in it so I don't think it counts as light. But I'll let euro weigh in as I made it at his behest and he is more of a connoisseur.

dbz,

Nice, I love pumpkin cheesecake (almost went that way today). Btw, I didn't really mean terrible if it's the lighter style, I should have said "far inferior" instead. That type of cheesecake is still really delicious, it just isn't as good as the super dense type.

At least she probably put away more than half a slice!

Stabn,

Solid.

el d,

how much is a slice of cheesecake in the restaurant, and how much is it to take away a 12 slice cheesecake? just curious, thx!
