Its not the epitome of croissants but it blows away most examples in the US.
The best in them is that they are super fresh and warm. If you let their cheese croissant become cold it is best case meeehh. But generally I agree with you . They are not bad. Their raisin scrolls with coffee from vending machine had been my breakfast for few semesters at the uni.

How cheap? The wires rested on the plastic housing, not the metal toaster frame. So when they go hot, they melted their way through the plastic and fell down.

It was this incident, as well as shelf toilets, that got me to re-assess everything I thought I knew about Germans being great engineers.

Not cheap enough.

I am currently travelling. Will post a picture of my toaster when I am back. 15 euros at tschibo. The construction similar to your second. Works 11 years.

But I completely agree with German engineers being totally overrated.

I had no idea people put bread in the fridge. What is the reasoning behind it? Freezer is fine though.

Its due to the high consumption of pork in the German diet.

Yeah, my toaster was even cheaper, but that was the first fold-out brotchen rack I found a picture of. I think mine was like 5 Euro at Praktiker. Truly craptastic, but it worked once I fabricated a metal clip to keep the rack from melting through the plastic.

Truly disgusting. And usually placed in a tiny WC with no fan, for extra grotesqueness.

I got my toaster oven for free by the side of the road. 10 years later it's still going strong.

I thought I was doing well buying a never used top of the range Avanti 4 piece toaster for $30 from a work mate. I think it retailed for $120. Still going strong 10 years later but Greg topped me with his roadkill one.

I am never sure in last days when greg is joking and when serious.

I ran over a screw and my tire went flat. So I change the tire in my driveway. I don't have a floor jack here so use the ****ty telescoping jack that comes with it. Jack point is directly on the frame and I've never had a car slip off the jack, so I'm lazy and never put a jack stand under it unless I'm under the vehicle. (Im sure you can tell where this is going). Take flat tire off and instead of putting the spare on right away, I throw the flat tire in the back. Down she goes. The way it landed the handle to the jack is pinched and I can't get it out.

So now I have to suffer the shame and embarrassment of my rotor sitting on the concrete until my gf gets home and I can use her jack to free my jack.

I always wondered what type of person picks up all the junk we put out before the garbage guys get it.

Dealing with that kind of a mess is a real PITA as well as an embarrassment--if my memory of my distant past serves. An AAA membership would probably provide good value for you unless you enjoy dealing with that crap.

LOLobar. I would imagine you learned to be careful with jacks and chainsaws and guns, like any good child.

At PHo in Vegas and you can now opt out of housekeeping at check in in exchange for a $10 credit at a very limited number of places on the property. But a medium latte and a syringe of orange juice at Starbucks is $13 because Vegas
