Fabian,

make sure and keep doing it occasionally. I memorized the periodic table a few years back. I did a sporkle quiz just recently and could only name like 40 of them

Howard,

Neither was I at the beginning of November. It's all relative, of course, and I'm guessing you know more than you give yourself credit for.

pokeraz,

If you've literally never heard of it at all you have a bigger pit to dig out of than I. There's a political message to convey here, but I won't as I don't want to tempt Howard to respond where he's not allowed to.

If that's the case though, playing the quiz several times and starting to learn which parts (=continents, at first) of the world different countries belong to is definitely step one. Starting with "Botswana=Africa" and "Cambodia=Asia" is totally fine, and over time you can refine that into specific regions. This is more or less where I started, fwiw; Cameroon, sure, Africa, but where in Africa? Oh, Centralish Africa? Ok. Stuff like that.

Once you can pinpoint countries to different regions, more or less, you can start in earnest to distinguish between them. This is where you can definitely learn one or two countries just from sheer memorization (typically the ones whose land mass is comparatively big, in my experience), and then you learn which one(s) must be in between those countries, stuff like that. Specifically, for me, there was an instance where I realized Ethiopia (big), Kenya (bigish), and Tanzania (big) were on top of each other (top to bottom), while to the southwest of them there was Uganda (small), Rwanda (super small), Burundi (super small). "Above" them was Eritrea (thin) and Somalia (horn), and there was also a small bull**** invisible country hidden in there (Djibouti). Starting to learn small mini-solutions like that will eventually lead you right.

The Comoros were one about which I had no clue on my first run-through.

Fabian,

I was kidding. But thank you for your thoughtful response.

Your friend,

The "ladies, if he: <bullet points>" meme going around on Twitter might be the very worst one I've seen. Almost every example I've seen has been brutally unfunny.
