Do you have to water it?

Nah. We just take the fire risk. So far, so good.

But when we put it on our burning pile, we have to cut it up into sections because it's like tossing a gallon of diesel fuel on it.

Christmas tree goes up the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving. It comes down the Saturday after New Years.

Ugh! That's worse than ours. Everybody knows that it's bad luck to leave the tree up past New Year's.

And sometimes we even make it to December before getting the tree.

Until this moment, I did not realize that Tom's butthole clenches when he sees a graphic on a basketball broadcast saying that the FT shooter is 18 for his last 18.

Not me! It's bad luck to be superstitious.

Wouldn't it be easier to just throw decorations on one of the existing trees in the yard?

Though the burning pile conflagration sounds glorious. Pics of this year's episode!

Easier? Sure. But I'm afraid it may not be an either/or, and that would lead to a spread of the decorations rather than a simple displacement.

That is the one burn I always dread, although it is less exciting since we have gradually moved our burning pile out from directly under the power line and cable line going to the house. The propane tank is only about 25' away, so there is always the element of excitement present.

Got my new drone yesterday. Passed the commercial drone license through the FAA yesterday. Now today it's time to go fly a drone for the first time ever. Wish me luck!

Got this little beauty:

I don't think so. I really have zero experience with them, so we'll see. I think they can keep themselves pretty stable in a decent wind, but I don't know yet.

I would not have guessed that an FAA license is necessary for a drone. Can't you just go to the store and pick one up?

Complete novice, but I'd guess you don't even have to go to a store. I bet you could buy one just sitting at your computer.

anyone can own one, but federal laws regulate who can fly one and the type of license depends on use.
here's oregon's version: https://uavcoach.com/drone-laws-oregon/
my guess is they want the weekend flyer to know what to do around flight paths and airports of all sizes. a drone taking down a plane is not good news

The FAA thing is only to fly it for commercial purposes. I have a client wanting surveys of property and rooftop equipment using drone footage. Recreational use doesn't require anything except registering any drone that weighs more than 250g. The airspace restrictions around airports is way more complicated than I would have dreamed of, although most airspace restrictions will never apply to us, assuming we stay under the 400' ceiling that drones are supposed stay under.

My cousin has one like this. It's unnerving how steadily they hover in place. I think my brain was expecting to see micro adjustments.

I always think that dudes who post thirsty comments on the internet owe me a personal apology. You inflicted that secondhand embarrassment on me for what, exactly? Seriously, what the **** are you doing? Do you think that if a hot woman posts a picture of herself, it's like one of those old-school radio contests where the 45th caller will win something? That's the only explanation I could countenance.

I cannot seem to find the containment thread. That is unfortunate.

Free-range posters are all the rage now.
