Through everything I still feel bad for babs.

I think he wants so badly to be seen as a successful handicapper at sports that he is willing to cling to any little bit of evidence that it might be true. At this point, a huge part of how he defines himself is making 1500 sports picks and being correct 54% of the time, and being down overall negative units.

What is interesting is that if babs was actually betting for real money, and not just air bets, he would undoubtedly feel really bad, because he would be down actual money over a long period of time. But, because he is only placing air bets, being down doesn't hurt at all, so he can feel good about the winning percentage. Because in babs' current situation, a UNIT is nothing.

Pimping winning percentage is just part of the sports tout mantra...if you listen to sports talk radio, there will inevitably be a spot for some kind of tout. Hell, in the Bay Area, they pay for actual airtime in a show, and they always say something like "...65% documented winners..." or some ****.

Makes you wonder how much a competent one can really make, which is scary and sad.

ETA: As recently as a couple of years ago, this guy was buying segments on two shows on KNBR, which is a 50,000W station that is the flagship for both the Giants and 49ers.

I love how people are so ignorant and oblivious they dont realize that I also threw out the average line of play, which when combined with winning % does actually make it a very relevant stat.
