Had an appointment about as far as one can get from my house and stay in the metro area this AM.

However, by taking the not-quite-direct route home, I was able to visit one of our few In-n-Out's for lunch.

Disappointing.

Pretty busy, and they did a good job of cranking the order through. Fries like cardboard though. Burger just ok. Coke was good, I guess I had that going for me.

Spicy Ch'King was trash the one time I had it. It just has such a weird sauce on it.

The regular Ch'King is good.

standard in and out experience

fries are terribad unless you ask for them to be cooked a normal amount of time by which to them means "extra long" but everyone uses a specific word for it

animal style seems to improve quality of burgers

but it's mostly just west coasters who miss home and misplace that nostalgia in mediocre fast food

Cantina taco thing from TB is fine, I guess. It has the structural integrity of a... I don't know, something extremely fragile. It's a good thing it comes with that cardboard holder, because I used it to shovel about half the exploded taco remains into my mouth.

Had the $1.49 ghost pepper chicken nuggets at BK today, obviously not true ghost pepper heat but way more than most "hot" ff novelties. Matched it with some $1 fries, very nice cheapo lunch. Only disappointment was the news that they no longer are doing the $1 bacon cheeseburger thing, which had been what I came for thb. Guy offered me some rodeo burger that didn't even have cheese, no thanks.

Weird Sauce like this?

Had two QPCs and a FFDC for lunch. Plus crowns for ChKing and threw on a rodeo burger for the fans.

Something I learned today:

One of the options for the BK 2 for $5 deal is a 1/4lb King cheeseburger.

This burger is literally a whopper with double cheese minus lettuce, tomato, ketchup. In the app, you can add all the whopper ingredients back. This is an easy way to get two whoppers with double cheese for $5.

One thing I still don't understand is that in the app a whopper is 467 calories. The above burger is 600 calories. Hmm, cheese has that many calories?

Great work, Mark K.

Also, the BK app is often crazy incorrect with calorie totals.

I heard that soon BK will be having Doctors on site who are giving out lisinopril whenever somebody orders a Ch'King.

Spoiler:
Lisinopril
Common brands: Qbrelis, Zestril, Prinivil

ACE inhibitor

It can treat high blood pressure and heart failure. It can also reduce the risk of death after a heart attack.

You need to get a diuretic with it to get the water out of you, like Hydrochlorothiazide. Warning - you will piss every 30 minutes for several hours.

IANAD, but wouldn't you need to drink water because of the sodium overload instead of "getting water out of your system"?

iirc, water is drawn into the body's cells to dilute the salt

Taco Bell Tests New $2 Tier for Value Menu

Taco Bell looks to be testing a new $2 tier for their value menu and are calling the menu, the "Crave More Value Menu" rather than the Cravings Menu.

The revamped value menu sees three new burritos at the $2 mark: the Beefy Melt Burrito, the Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken Burrito, and the vegetarian Fiesta Veggie Burrito.

The Beefy Melt Burrito looks to be the same as the Cheesy Beefy Melt Burrito currently testing in Ohio, which comes filled with seasoned beef, seasoned rice, three-cheese blend, nacho cheese sauce, and reduced fat sour cream.

The Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken Burrito takes a flour tortilla and fills it with grilled chicken, crispy red tortilla strips, shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, Avocado Ranch sauce, and Creamy Chipotle sauce. It was previously tested in Oklahoma City, OK.

The Fiesta Veggie Burrito includes seasoned rice, black beans, crispy red tortilla strips, Creamy Chipotle sauce, reduced-fat sour cream, shredded 3-cheese blend, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and guacamole.

With the addition of the $2 burritos for the test, they've shortened the $1 value menu items to just four (from seven): the Cheesy Bean & Rice Burrito, Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cinnamon Twists, and Cheesy Roll Up (the Beef Burrito, Chicken Chipotle Melt, and Chips & Nacho Cheese Sauce have been pushed out).

It's unclear where they're testing the revamped value menu but both the Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken Burrito and Fiesta Veggie Burrito are currently on offer at select locations in the Phoenix, Arizona area.

Two cheeses (80 Cal each) is almost perfectly offset by no mayo (-156 cals) per the app.

Math doesn't check out!

Two dollar menu at the Bell, 2 dollar McDoubles. The dollar menu's I lived on as a youth in the 00s are officially dead!

I'd like to take this time to remember the summer of Buckdoubles at BK + 69 cent FFDCs at Ricks in 2010.

Those all look pretty good, and reasonably priced.
