It makes sense in light of Covid. With No March madness, limited college football and potential interruptions to the NFL season BW3s etc are going to be buying way less wings. Wing suppliers are probably pretty desperate for orders and just looking to unload. If it was like item 20 on Taco Bell’s new product list before it probably moved up quite a bit after. And you can just stop selling them when prices go back up.

not Taco Bell but a couple grades up from that

there are places near me where I can get fajitas, and if they're well prepared they are really excellent - so many different things on one plate cooked together

a main difference between fajitas and tacos and burritos is that the meal is prepared for you - it's not pre-cooked and put into pots and then dug out when somebody orders it

so, it's not quite as fast - but it's still pretty quick - I'm willing to wait an extra 10 minutes

From the tablecloth... TGI Fridays?

One would think! However, these combo restaurants unfortunately refuse to cross-combine any items in the kitchen.

Culver’s is my new fast food addiction (with a root beer to drink of course). My only nit to pick is the cheese never gets fully melted, but it’s like a half point reduction.

It was called the Twister!

The Twister was indeed bomb. That is, of course, if I wasn't ordering 20 chicken littles.

Too much green stuff. KFC and fresh veggies are not synonymous

I would love to be able to get fast, semi-cheap wings at a drive-thru. The closest I can come is the Buffalo chicken sliders at Arby's.

Which I kinda like. As well as the tacos and the egg rolls at Jack in the Box.

Some Carl's locations have the Green Burrito menu. Some good stuff on it but my local Carl's stopped selling it awhile back.

I am shocked with all these combo ff places. Wish I had more experience with them if they did menu crossovers. Kfc burrito sounds amazing.

This makes sense. For the sake of argument, let's call it the McReeyub Factor, because supply and demand is basically what dictates when the McReeyub reappears.

maybe they learned from their recent grilled cheese burrito failure. wings are good almost always, if i can acquire a pile at 1am it will be a good time.

Culver's has been like 80% of my fast food the last three months and it's always good. Super, super consistent which I value more than almost anything with a fast food place.

doesn't quite make sense. potatoes are always dirt cheap and probably the second highest profit margin item after soda (would you like fries and a drink with that?). why would they scrub 'taters from the menu to chase a short term deal like wings?

That is just the CEO failing imo. There isn't really a valid reason to remove the potatoes.

The wings are defiantly a McReeyub Factor.

The stated reason is that they want to cut down on drive-thru waiting times.

The real reason is that their workers are overworked and understaffed. So, instead of paying the workers what they're worth, corporate is removing items from the menu to simplify the kitchen workload.

sure seems like dropping an order of wings into the fryer (or punching 2:30 on the microwave timer) will alleviate those problems.

Makes sense. Corporate profit over customers and employees.

Something went wrong around 1972 and has never been fixed. This graph tells the story of USA#9:

That graph basically reflects how technology and automation have made workers more productive since the 1980s - not that workers are working any harder.

This commentary on FF owners in a thread basically dedicated to spending the least amount of money for the most food

How much do y’all think the owner makes when you come in and order 26 things with the app and pay .39 cents for the entire order? (But yes please still pay the crew $15 hourly min)

Do y’all see the problem here?

26 items for .39 is a dealbreaker for this conversation to continue. Bighurt and Malucci, save us.
