22 Subways within 5 miles of me(in Atlanta) but only 14 McDonalds. Would not have guessed that. I'm more aware of the Rick's stores for the $1 any size fountain beverage.

For sandwiches, I'm a pretty big fan of Which Wich.

Frickin pricey, but they have the best options for add ons.

Wish they'd have a "sub of the week" even if it's just bunk ass ham n cheese.
I'll load up on all the veggies and extras (Crispy onion strings ftw)

IF you just get meat and cheese, prob best to go to Jersey Mike's.

There's actually a good sandwich chain in Austin called Thundercloud. Their thing is fresh and good sides but they end up a little pricey too.

But tbh, I'd rather hit up a food truck in Austin and get a bomb ass TORTA CUBANA

one of the reasons there are so many subways is they are cheap to build out. no fryer, no flat top, no type 1 hood. they have their bread oven, turbochef oven, microwave and warming pans for heat. i assume a walk-in for meat & produce. cost of entry is about as cheap as it gets. Pappa Murphy's has a somewhat similar model because they don't bake the pizza.

Finally went to Carls today. I got two of the 2.49 doubles. The jalapeno and the guac one. Solid at the price. I also had a few chicken tenders and they were extraordinary.

Went back a few hours later and got a happy hour vanilla cold brew coffee, and BOGO charbroiled chicken club. Just one for me. Decent, would never pay full price.

Will probably get 2 Famous Stars with cheese for $6 on my next visit.

Go to Nandos for sure if they don't have those where you live. There are a ton of other knockoff piri-piri chicken chains around London, but they all pale in comparison to Nandos.

British KFC is better than American KFC, but not as good as the good American chicken chains like Popeyes. Other than that I wouldn't bother with American chains in London, all the menus are so similar to what you get at home that there's no fun novelty factor whatsoever.

Their burger bar is decent and fried chicken is quite good

For that price point all the food there would have to be inedible

When I go to Golden Corral I get about halfway thru my lightly loaded plate and I'm good.

I mean it's a completely terrible place atmosphere-wise, but the value is unquestionable. Especially given people here and their affinity for cheap decent eats.

So much this. Just find a couple dishes that are a done well (fried chicken, fried catfish, burger bar, salad bar) and it's fantastic value. Something like a fried chicken and fried fish combo plate alone at a soul food restaurant is gonna run you close to $20

Got a steak dunked chimichanga from Taca Bueno yesterday with queso for the dunking sauce. Thought it was really good. The beef and chicken are cheaper than the steak. I think I'll try them out next time.
