cool. do you have a point or are you just content being a terrible poster? you're absolutely right; someone may or may not have cut my fries while i waited in my car for my food.

meanwhile, my point was that even if In N Out cuts home grown yukon gold potatoes right in front of me and peels them with a golden potato peeler fresh to order and fries them in unicorn blood, their fries still suck. you can argue about better quality or whatever until you're blue in the face, but ultimately that is not what consumers prefer. yes, some people admit to enjoying them, and others appreciate them as a vessel for animal style, but most do not.

i'd like to see you address this point rather than beating on about who cut the fries and when.

Yeah I've seen them cut cook and serve them to me 30 seconds out of the fryer.

And the first few fries are not bad. But about half way through they aren't much better than salty cardboard.

I've always wondered how that happens.

Maybe I'm just unaware but I just moved from Henderson to SW side of Vegas and I went to one on blue diamond a couple of times and I did not notice this. That said, every other one I've been to has had this, but it's at least possible to go and not notice.

Cantina Burrito (Chicken) TR:

Taco bell closed by my house so I had to go clear across town, picked up a Cantina Burrito.

Here are pics:

Change is for scale

It does not stand up to chipotle in size, value, and taste. Chipotle's burritos are about 30% bigger I'd say. The chicken is seasoned very nicely. There are mushrooms, corn, lettuce, tomato, cilantro (not sure on that one because my palate is terrible) white rice, black beans, and guacamole. It is kind of dry and desperately needs sour cream, IMO, so make sure to put some on at home.

Not a bad fast food burrito at all, but a little pricier than I think it should be.

had the cantina bowl, it was terrible.
it had a few scant cubes of chicken (not bad, it has that salty commercial brine taste), salty but flavorless cilantro dressing, flavorless black beans and guac that was putrid.

That guac could not have been made from real avocados, it was a slimy, pale green paste that tasted of nothing. Really unappetizing.

I also asked for no rice and extra beans and got a puzzled look. I guess I can forgive them since it was their first day serving this but workers at TBell looked and acted like they couldn't give a **** less.

Goes without saying but Chipotle burrito bowl is miles and miles ahead. Not even remotely close.

Still love the doritos locos taco tho.

like bluefox said, if you've ever set foot inside a real In n out, you'll know they cut their potatoes right in front of you. Oh no they under salt them??? Well that sucks b/c you can't add more salt yourself....oh wait....

I do know people who don't like InO fries and every one has their opinion, but at least know what you're talking about before u start calling ppl names.
I'm an East Coaster and have never been to an In N Out, but if they're cutting their fries fresh and then just doing a single fry, it's obvious that that alone is why most people think they suck. Great fries usually get fried twice, once at a lower temperature to cook them through and again at a higher temperature to crisp them up. Fries that are frozen usually get fried once at the factory at the lower temperature, and then the final fry at the store to get them crispy. If fries only get fried once, it's difficult to crisp them up without over/undercooking them, so your choice is to have crisp, overcooked fries if cooked at a lower temperature, crisp, undercooked fries if they are done at a high temperature, or fries that are properly cooked on the inside but lacking crispness if they are cooked through at a lower temperature and pulled before the outside gets crispy. It's a display of french fry noobery to act like fresh cut fries are automatically better, without a double fry, they probably suck.

I went the bowl route. Chicken obv. First pic is how it was presented to me, second pic is after I mixed it all up. Super big iphone pic for foodporning purposes.

It was good. Not as delicious as chipotle, but does anyone expect it to be? Not a great value but not a ripoff either I don't think. It also feels weird eating out of a bowl at taco bell. My go-to item is usually chalupas and whatever 99c item they are currently promoting, and this bowl doesn't seem like it's going to change that. I'd rather pay $2 more for chipotle.

Good report guys. Looks like this will be a fail overall. I will most likely not even try it after the postings. Thanks again though

I got the steak burrito meal with chips drink and roasted corn salsa. It was anything but dry! Almost too wet actually. But it was decent. I won't even try to compare it to chipotle since that would be ******ed, but it was a half decent option for me since I can't get anything like it elsewhere in this stupid city.

Anyway, it wasn't great but wasn't bad. In other words it's everything you'd expect.

I mean, they're just fries so actually who cares if they suck? I like them, but not nearly as much as carl's jr crisscut fries. God I miss Carl's Jr....

Are you a chef or fry cook or something?
