When I pay, I quote Billy Joel at them. "Don't go changin' to try and please me."

I like how at so many FF places the customers are simply a pain in the ass to them. So much grief for using valid coupons promoted by your company! And the old "guilt the customer into compensating for our mistake" is a frequently revisited classic.

I had a S'Awesome Bacon Double. It was pretty good, could have used a bit more bacon.

I go uhhh and I am instantly teleported back a freaking decade to the same Wendy's when I went through the drive-thru with my then 7 and 5 year olds to literally get two simple cheeseburgers and they HOSE me on the upsell and I end up paying some ungodly amount of money because I was a sap.

But not today Wendy's...NOT TODAY. I go 'uhhh large I guess...' and she says that'll be 9-whatever. I drive to first window and show the app. She calls her manager over and while he is arriving I start to read the fine print on my app and it says 'for small combo only.' Ok, small it is. He comes over, mashes some buttons and leaves. The lady at the window and I have a bit of a language barrier, but NOT TODAY, and she says $6.39 and I say no, it is $5. We have a Mexican Standoff for like 15 seconds, she has no idea why I am not handing her money(NOT TODAY is why) and I say 'bring him back.' She has no idea what I am saying so I point inside and then motion back to me and say 'bring him back.' She understands my sign language and manager comes back and I say 'It says $5 here and that's what I am paying. If that means a small, then small it is.' At this point I kind of feel like the guy from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but NOT TODAY:

Manager is peeved and mashes some more buttons and says $5.35 and walks away. I hand cashier $5.35 and drive forward and obviously get a large combo because it is already ready and that is easier than changing it to a small. I say thank you and drive away, completely vindicating a decade-old bs upsell that Wendy's fully knows confuses people into spending money they had no intention of spending in the first place.

But NOT TODAY.
I had a similar experience today, but more my fault, when I went to burger king drive thru to get my $1 whopper.

Me: Whopper with cheese please
Her: OK, that'll be $6.79
Me: *pulls forward*
Her: 6.79 please
Me: Oh, I have this app coupon for $1
Her: That's for a whopper, not a whopper with cheese
Me: OK, I can pay for whatever the upcharge is for cheese
*note - so far this is exactly what I expected, the coupon was in fact just for a whopper*
Her: It's not accepting the coupon, whopper with cheese is still $6.79
Me: I mean - can you sell me the cheese on its own?
Her: No, it says not accepted
Her: Has to be regular whopper
Me: OK (obviously I'm not paying a 579% premium for cheese)
Her: Oh, they already made the whopper with cheese, here you go. That'll be $1.10

Reminds me of this local bagel place that would upcharge me for substituting cream cheese in place of a slice of cheese on this sandwich I liked. I unsuccessfully tried to argue that going from a slice of cheese to a dollop of scallion cream cheese was actually saving them money but they insisted on charging me $1 extra or whatever it was (iirc the original owner never charged me for this substitution). Unsurprisingly they ran the place into the ground and it closed in less than a year. Rip good bagels in Arizona.

I once stopped going to a bagel place I would stop at every day before work because they charged me $1 for butter, and then the lady owner doubled down indignantly when I asked if she was really charging $1 for butter.

I showed her!

I miss good bagels so much. The place I worked used to have a food truck every morning that had great bagels. Never been able to find any even close since then.

Tried that Power Bowl at Taco Bell, it was okay, but the price point is bad and the heap of guac and sour cream seem like they shouldn't be default since they monopolize the flavor. I'd probably get this every now and then if it was like $3 or $3.50, at $5 and change, it's just not worth it. When you account for the smaller portion, it's basically the same price as a chipotle bowl which is much, much, much better.

Pretty tasty. Sandwich ate incredibly sloppy, unfortunately, because it had lots of great stuff on it.

Idk about $16 though.

LOL at them charging over $3 for those green beans....that looks like airport prices.
i've never had them but they can't be worth that price.

Is the $5 Daves double combo every day on the app? Three days in a row so far.

I believe so. It only saves you like $2.50 tho, still a good deal.

YMMV, in Seattle that probably saves you $4.

I wonder if they'll get mad if I ask them to hold the fries and the drink. The sandwich alone is usually $6-something after tax.

Great looking order!

If you liked it, try white American sometime, makes it even better imo.

I guess you’ve chosen to make fun of me and never any of the regular posters who threaten to throw their drinks through the drive thru window for any minor indignation? My point still stands; also I stopped going because they never got my order right, the upcharge was just another annoyance on top of their incompetence.

Also $3 is fine for those green beans given that they charge about the same for fries and the beans are waaaay better.

I didn't take 27o's post as making fun of you, but rather being in solidarity with taking nitty stands. (I myself once mostly-boycotted a restaurant I liked because they charged 5 cents per ketchup packet, f those guys.)

$3 for those tempura green beans is perfectly fine, and I would much rather have them than $3 fries almost anywhere. Anyone lol'ing at them has never had them or has deficient taste buds.
