+ 1 - it's a good local option and a solid greasy burger. I particularly like the use of tartar sauce on the deluxe as well as on the fries. Not something I'd make a point to bring someone visiting to go get, but somewhere I'd be happy to take someone visiting who wanted a cheap burger.

I went to a couple Top Pot locations when doing Uber. I didn't get it, it was like they had less than 20 doughnuts for sale.
Top Pot has grown on me in the 3 years I've lived in Seattle. At first I thought they were pretty average, but I've grown to crave them a little now. They make some things really good: chocolate frosting, salted caramel frosting, and lemon filling.

However, like so much else in Seattle, the pricing is annoying bordering on asinine: basic donuts (beyond the plain cake) are going to run you $2-$2.25, and a boston creme is going to be near $3. In vegas these were all well < $1. (RIP Glazer's).

Off topic, but someone remind me why people live in Seattle? It's sounding like Seattle is becoming SFO with worse weather.

The Dick's discussion made me think of Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Any Dickey's fans in here?

It's the largest BBQ franchise in the US, with 500+ locations in 43 states, so some of you should have one close enough.

It's not gourmet BBQ by any means, but it's FF (probably faster than 5G), and is good for BBQ when thought of in that category.

Their ribs are fine, but I particularly like their pulled pork or their BBQ beef brisket. Their BBQ beans and fried okra are also solid, and they have a ton of variety of other sides.

https://www.dickeys.com/menu

The best part is that kids eat free (with adult meal purchase) on Sundays ($6.50 value). They don't really check afaik, so I assume you could still get the deal without a kid.

So for $10, you get a regular adult plate (including 2 sides, a roll, and a drink) plus a kids plate (including a side, roll, and drink), or for $14, you get a 3 meat plate plus a kids plate. It's a lot of BBQ for those prices.

Would recommend. Particularly to Bighurt and Arby's fans. Compared to Arby's, this is "we have the meats" on steroids, and is not much more expensive (arguably cheaper with the Sunday deal).

There is no way the weather in Seattle is worse than SFO.

I've lived in Seattle and San Jose. Spent enough frigid summer days and gloomy mild foggy winter days in SF and Seattle's summer more than makes up for the rain in the other 8 months

IMO Seattle is easily one of the 5 best cities in the USA. Plenty of stuff to do outdoors, great bar scene with amazing beer, some great restaurants (esp if you're into sushi), very laid back. It's expensive but this is somewhat offset by the fact that the economy is booming and jobs are plentiful.

I found the meats to be ok. If it were not a FF place, I would be seriously disappointed in it. The only thing I really liked was the jalalpeno sausage, but it's too greasy to eat much of. Also, the waffle fries were really good.

That's cool. I've never been. The Fast food prices would be a deal breaker for me. LOL

Edit: there's a lot of Washington State/Seattle transplants that I've met in Vegas that have nothing positive to say about the NW. Anyplace that has legal weed can't be too bad, IMO.

People moving from Seattle to Vegas must be thrilled with the amount of sun. They probably spend their whole first year there outside. Winters in Washington are totally miserable (IMO way worse than summers in Vegas but this is clearly debatable) and definitely not for everyone.

I can understand that. It's not comparable to a $20+ good BBQ place. It's FF. There's not a whole lot of other FF BBQ though. And it destroys something like Arby's.

I'm on-board with Dickey's as acceptable FF bbq. I really like their brisket and their pulled pork is decent. I am not a fan of anything else, but a couple of their sides are OK at times.

I almost certainly eat more from Dickey's than from any single other FF joint discussed itt. But I do have a life-long preference of bbq over burgers. And Dickey's will cover you up with coupons.

I live here because my gfs family lives here. And afraid I/we might be stuck here for awhile, because I make way more money at my whole in the wall cardroom than I did working at the Palazzo.

Hmmm. I have one across the street and have only been once, to get a $3 Wednesday pulled pork sandwich.

Im on the other end. We are about to move away from Seattle in order to be closer to family in California. I'll appreciate getting more sun in the winters, but there is a lot I'm going to miss about this place.

Btw, the weather here gets a bad rap. Yeah, it's damp and 40 degrees, but its not like its always pouring, and that's as bad as it gets. Nothing disastrous at all. And the summer is perfect.

But I give ZERO ****s about weather.

I'll admit summers were pretty amazing when I lived there, especially with it being light out til like 9 or 10 pm. I just didn't think it was worth paying the price for it the other 9 months, especially winter where you could go literally weeks without seeing the sun.

I'd take Arby's over Dickey's any day. To each his own

Go on Sunday, and get a 3-meat plate + free kids plate! That's 4 meats, 3 sides, 2 rolls, and 2 drinks for $14!

There's an area in SFO where they average something like 2 days of sunshine a year. Suicide rates are somewhat higher than usual there.

p4b,

Sure, there are a couple of very foggy areas. But SF in general is a pretty sunny city. Chilly, but sunny. Summer months are def cold - Aug/Sep/Oct are the warm weather months in SF.

But it's a terrible city for fast food joints!

Put 5 away without trouble, could comfortably eat one more, and possibly force a 2nd. Chocolate frosty too.

Dave!
