I don't think I was ever present for an inspection that got more than 10. And often if it was just a spot problem the inspector would let you fix it and not count it. To get 80 is a complete **** show.

This is disturbing news. I’m off to do some research.

The good news is it says no violations found, I’m assuming that means the problems were fixed before the inspector left. The first two issues seem pretty bad though. Thoughts NhlNut?

Thats WAY too much work 😀. When it’s coming from my groups budget I let my admin pick the place. If we start taking orders it’s going to lead to the inevitable “I had steak yesterday, let’s get Indian” time wastage I’d like to avoid.

I'm talking about when the reports were printed in the RJ. They stopped publishing them in 2011.

I can’t imagine how horrifying these reports must be for a Burger King or a Taco Bell.

Which Wich is better than JJ, imho. Their olive salad and hot pepper mix is really good and not offered at any other fast food sub place.

In complete honestly they are the closest it comes to local italian Deli in the form of a fast food place.

But they are expensive.

true for water bottle in the fridge. false for 52 degree temps when they're supposed to be sub 40 and false for the dishwasher with no chemicals in it...

If you see a big chain in there that's the sign of bad management. The franchises are designed to make it easy to clean. Even slight competence is enough. Plus newer equipment keeps them out of trouble.

Jersey Mike's has a cherry pepper relish that is essentially a hot pepper mix. Absolutely essential for any sammich there imo.

I've had the BK spicy nuggets a couple more times and will bump up my rating to 7/10. The last batch was actually more or less hot (temperature-wise, not spice-wise). It was an improvement, but they were still noticeably the same product. Flavor is good.

The thing I'm not crazy about is they have the texture and mouthfeel of a frozen nugget you heated up in the oven at home. I much prefer the crisp exterior of a hot out of the fryer McNugget.

That salad bar must be a magnet for violations. I can't imagine it's worth the hassle (Augie correct me if I'm wrong), I've been to Jason's like 20 times and never touched the bar.

I don't think anyone is saying BK nugs are the equal of mcnuggets, but they're a buck and a half/10.

Why even worry about the handling of vegetables at PJs when the pizzas go on treated screens that can't be washed, anyway?

I don't know how many people realize this about a lot of pizza places. If your place uses mesh screens, those are not ever washed. If you get them wet, they need to be treated again. At PJs, if a screen falls on the floor, you 'clean' it by running it through the oven. Otherwise, they don't get cleaned at all.

it's true. sad, but true.

i don't worry about the vegetables, i just don't order them because i can picture the guy prepping them. at least with the meat it goes from plastic bag -> pizza with minimal human contact and chance of being defiled.

nah, not really. there's an employee dedicated solely to the bar. as long as the cold table is working there's not a lot of risk.

Really? You guys didn't cook any of the meat? I guess there really is something to the small mom and pops being better than the big high-volume franchises. We got our ground beef and sausage raw and cooked up batches of it every couple days.

Just saw an Arby's commercial for the fried turkey sandwich. Whoever does their commercials should win the Emmy for fast food commercials now that the Carl's Jr slutty gals are gone.

I believe I might have to get one, never had fried turkey.

All you have to do to know that chain pizza places are using pre-cooked meats is look at them.

I used a receipt coupon yesterday at Popeye's. Free 2 piece & biscuit with purchase of large drink, so $2.15 w tax for my preferred breast and wing, not too shabby. Courteous prompt service, delicious food, love that chicken from Popeye's.

I have a bogo coupon for a Schlotzsky's pizza that expires Monday, still up in the air about that one. Might do it for science. I used to like their pizzas back in the late 90s.
