Did anyone try the BK ribs that were out last summer? (in my area anyway). Thoughts? I thought they were pretty good tbh.

The Sonic cherry limeade is as nothing next to the Braum's cherry limeade, but that is meaningless to most of you since Braum's is a regional chain centered on Oklalolma.

Due to this post I had to hit up Portillo's for lunch. 2 Jumbo chili cheese dogs, an order of cheese fries and a lg. Diet Coke. So delicious.

Also, if any of you have a Portillo's near you and you haven't tried the Cheddar Melt, give it a try next time you are there. **** is amazing

Might as well give a trip report of the Bike's new "Korean-Themed" menu for anyone who's interested (I sampled 2 items off this new menu offering):

1) "Korean Style-Ramen" - surprisingly filling! The menu is misleading in that it says the ramen only comes with shrimp, but it comes with beef, egg, and all the things you'd expect in a hearty ramen dish. A spicy soup and the broth was not too thin, though the noodles were no better than insta-noodles - I'll give the dish a 6.5/10 - some guy at my table had the Yukejang (beef noodle soup) - he's Korean as well, and said it was solid just FYI.

2) Korean Dumplings - the newest dumping menu item at the Bike (so said the floorman) - the dipping sauce was tasty but the skin of the dumplings, for pan fried, was a bit too soggy for my taste, which is a shame cause the filling was pretty solid - 6/10

3) Fried Shrimp Platter (not on the Korean Menu) - I actually wanted to order some other kind of shrimp dish the guy next to me had, but ended up getting fried shrimp with some corn - would not recommend - 3/10

Roscoe's chicken n waffles is the stone cold nuts. I usually only go like once a year but get the 2 pc (the pieces are huge) with 2 waffles and a side of gravy. The chicken gets an A, the waffles get an A++. You know the food is good when you're the only white person in the joint.

I think Popeye's is better than KFC, you can just taste the love in that food. The KFC Double Down is pretty good, although I think it may constitute as the only possible food that is worsened by the presence of bacon (I know, blasphemous) although in all fairness it's because of the quality of the bacon, which seems to be the lowest grade bacon possible. I wouldn't feed it to my pet pig.

Also, major marketing fail that since it has 2 of 3 different things (chicken, cheese, bacon) that it should've been called the Triple Double and they could've done an NBA marketing crossover tie-in. Geez.

I know there are lots of haters, but the Weiner Circle in Chicago is great. It's a small hot dog stand in Wrigleyville that's open late night and all of the cashiers and cooks are surly teenage black chicks who yell at you. It's not in a campy Ed Debevics way, you pretty much have to Tourette's your order to them or they'll just ignore you.
Typical order:

"Okay, who next?"
"Me."
"Well what the **** you want? We got a long line here."
"Chill out bitch. Gimme the motha****ing charburger with fries."
"You want some ****in cheese on dem fries?"
"Bitch you know I do."
"You better show me eight ****in dollars or you ain't gettin ****."
"Damn hoe, do I look like I ain't got eight dollars? Here."
"Thank you. Now step aside, stupid. I'm trying to take orders here."

And word is that if you ask for a chocolate shake and throw down a $20, they flash you. God, I miss that place.

I can't tell, but is this post rife with subtle racism or what?

Thanks to this thread I had a double Filet-o-Fish for lunch. Sure enough, way too much tartar sauce. Damn good otherwise though. I even got a good batch of fries.

If you like fried zucchini, try it at Carls. I'm normally a fry guy, but carl's fries kinda suck. Western bacon w/ a side of fried zucchini has been my go to at carls for like 10 years.

OK, Sonic review time.

Went with the Bacon Cheeseburger Toaster, which is a burger with bacon, cheese, a fried onion ring and BBQ sauce on Texas toast; chili cheese tots with onions, and a cherry limeade.

Long story short, everything was just OK, nothing particularly good or terrible. Surprisingly, the burger was probably the best part; the Texas toast is good and it's a decent-sized burger (though for 4 bucks it should be). Chili cheese tots were certainly decent, but kind of bland. Wish the chili were a little more spicy. The cherry limeade was a lot less tart and more sweet than I expected/hoped, not bad at all but disappointing.

Grades:
Bacon cheeseburger Toaster: 6/10
Chili Cheese Tots: 6/10
Cherry Limeade: 5.5/10

total price: $8.05

Yeah Sonic is mediocre at best imo. Super Sonic cheeseburger is pretty good, but everything else I've tried has been very meh. Haven't experimented w/ all the different drinks though.

sonic does have a pretty solid value menu

the dollar burger is fantastic value if you like veggies and don't need cheese

i usually get two and remove the top bun from one and the bottom from the other

I've only had Checkers once, but I found the burger to be very forgettable. Some double bacon job, was pretty small iirc.

I kind of hate in n out for the amount of times i've heard people talk about the "secret" menu.

Ugh Sonic I grew to loathe. The first or one of the first Sonic's in NJ opened a mile from my house a couple of years ago and people were way too excited about it. But it was like a mile from my house so I'd go there. The bacon toaster is decent, but I think the double sonic burger stays in your stomach for 3-5 years. Cherry limeaid is good, creamslushes are pretty awesome.

My big fast food spot is Five Guys. I love it. There is one next to the best movie theater in my area so that is usually a big plus about going to the movies. Burgers are awesome, love the toppings choice(mayo/ketchup/lettuce/grilled onions/pickles), fries are great (either regular or cajun), etc.

I'm in the minority that prefers Fatburger to In N Out, but I think it's because there are a lot of them in Vegas in actual casinos, so it has been a frequent stop after a great or lousy night at the tables. Definitely Fatburger = Cheer up food. So it wins.

Fatburger is definitely tasty. My problem with them is cost.

In-N-Out is dirt cheap.

Oh, and not really on the "secret menu" but still hidden behind the counter, the In-N-Out Burger hot peppers are awesome! They'll either chop them up on the burger or give them to you whole.

Mmm.

Al, I thought SOP for LA-poker-ites was to complain heartily about how crappy all the food is in the cardrooms (excluding Hustler) while gorging on a 5 course meal with a fruit plate and Korean rice. Your descriptions are not nearly whiny enough.

Commerce's menu has always been pretty solid imo. I worked there for about a year and a half and part of the job was getting $15 worth of food during our shift, which is a ton.
And knowing the menu and the wait staff after a while, you could make some awesome customized meals.
Cheeseburger quesadilla ftw. nom nom.

Yeah, I put about 20 lbs on during that year and a half working the graveyard shift. My diet pretty much consisted of one large meal a day at around 2am.

Back when I was in college the local McDonald's had a burger that was a quarter pounder patty with grilled onions and cheese sauce. I think they called it a patty melt even though it really wasn't. It was ridiculously good and 99c so I probably ate six of those a week.
