I can't hold down food like you but I appreciate your resolve, I could be wrong but for some reason I get the impression you're not even a big guy because you're so unabashed about it

Ya that was me and it was the only time I ever ate at cfa so had to make it worth it.

I'm 6'1 ~195lbs and in good shape. I eat fast food about every 2 weeks or so and only really splurge in the US (once or twice a year).

Typical McDonald's meal is 2 fof, 1 mcdouble 1 mcchicken. Wendy's is baconator and spicy chicken.

Anybody else become more indifferent about fries as they've aged?

I think it's once I started buying the Checkers/Ralleys ones at the store and being able to fry them at home and have them be B+/A- every single time and restaurant quality.

Now I don't want to waste the calories on them I guess and their individual cost has skyrocketed like soda - soda and fries are where the restaurants make their killing, it's almost pure profit. Because I don't eat them often when I do get them ~25% of the time they taste better and less rote too.

I wouldn't mind trying some fried in beef tallow like the random one-off place that El D posted pages back.

That may be true, but I just feel like some places have really weak fries. I never have to eat Wendy's fries and often they won't be included in my order for example. But I'm always getting McDs fries, Checkers fries, In and Out fries (I know I'm in the minority on that), and others.

When I was freshman in high school I walked DQ, Carl's, McDs, TB, and Arbys in order. Only got one item from each place.

In regards to french fries, I almost never finish them. I don't love them enough, and it feels extra gluttonous to me. I'd rather eat large burgers.

I rarely get fries (or meal 'deals') and pretty much don't miss them at all. as you identified, cooked potatoes and sugar water are the main way many ff places make their profit, and I just can't bring myself to spend my $$ on those items because I know that.
anywhere around $1.50-$1.90 for small size fries or soda just isn't worth it.

I've never seen a mall food court with ten of the top twenty fast food chains, probably because there are agreements limiting competitors, plus who needs five different burger places in a food court?

Easy to find maybe five places in a row in Anytown, harder to find ten or more close enough together that anyone in this thread is capable of walking to all of them.

Drove through Rick Donald's, ordered a large Coke. Received large Dr. Pepper. I'm OK with that.

Drove through Jack and His Box, got meat lovers breakfast burrito, spazzed out and also (and only) a breakfast jack.

I don't feel like I've played this one well. They now have a portobello swiss buttery jack. Which I really should have got instead of the ******ed breakfast jack.
