Those spots where you think something happened but it was actually a dream. I experience that semi-frequently.

Referring specifically to chain fast food places. Obviously NYC is elite when it comes to pizza shops etc.

In Manhattan anyway, there is pretty much only McDonald's, wendys, one White Castle, Taco Bell, and subways on every corner. No Carl's/JITB/any of the decent sub chains (in before deli subs are better and cheaper), no chik fil a, and none of the good regional spots like Del taco/whataburger etc.

Also the quality of some of the facilities in the city are pretty god awful. The McDonald's on 69th and first is one of the worst I've been to. Horrible service, dirty, cold food, just bad.

Most of those chains you referred to aren't in the Northeast. In addition, rents are very high and most low end chains can't handle the competition. Qdoba was in Manhattan but they closed all their locations.

There is so much other great and varied FF in NYC - why would anyone need the average chain store?

You are right, not arguing that. Just saying that most of the restaurants talked about in the thread have little to zero presence in NYC.

The amazing restaurants/pizza joints I suppose makes up for that though

Wienerschnitzel having a sale Sunday, hot dog (mustard, chili, kraut) for 99 cents.

I think Checkers/Rallys does a special where 10 or so items are 99 cents on Sunday.

If you ever find yourself at a McDonald's/Subway/whatever in nyc you are doing it all wrong.

That white castle in Manhattan is where I had the worst food of my life. Worst ff experience too

FF chains in Manhattan are terrible, particularly because they are so much more expensive too. Just so many better alternatives in the same price range, or in lots of cases, cheaper.

Just a few years ago there were relatively few ff places in New York and that was a point of city pride. Now there's a fast food joint on every block and people complain that there aren't enough. Weird world we live in.

99 cent pizza slices on every corner in midtown NYC is a great recent addition to the FF scene.

Drove by a 7-11 and I can almost swear I saw a sign for a $5 large pepperoni pizza there. Is that true, and has anyone had it? I don't even know where they would stock/display large pizzas, it must have been for a personal size?

haven't had it (mainly because there's no way i'm eating any 7-11 prepared food that isn't still in the package from the factory that sent it there), but confirmed they are selling 14" pizzas....and wings....and mini tacos....and...and....

Meat Pies were definitely valid in Melbourne's 7-11s.

Have an in law who will eat nothing but 7-11, insisting he will throw anything else up. 5 years later doctors told him he has a year to live if he doesn't change immediately. That was six months ago. Wonder how he's doing?

In other news I was going to crush some jitb today but when I pulled up there was a 400lb woman stuffing her face with a super meat cheese thing in her car and i got a salad at Safeway instead.
